I wish they wouldn't stretch old 4:3 aspect ratio programmes like this. Even when you buy the DVD of an original series (eg Our Friends in the North), it's the same, with no option to change it. Looks ridiculous and distorted.
You need to look at your TV settings, if your TV is set to 16x9 or Wide setting then it will stretch any non widescreen content to fill the screen. Look for settings like Original/Standard. If you have Sky check your resolution output, if it's set to anything other than Auto, ie. 720/1080 it will stretch non widescreen content. |

I suspect it's your TV that's stretching the 4x3 presentation, not the DVD.

Thank you. I did check all the tv settings, but it made no difference.
Setup - screen settings - screen format - fixed aspect ratio. Or something similar. |

It may also be worth checking your DVD player to see if the settings are correct..... |

I agree. Things should be shown in the OAR, but if it looks wrong on your tv, a quick push of the "Aspect/Ratio" button will correct it.

Thanks, yes I have tried aspect ratio, and all the DVD player settings too.
Sadly you can only get kodi via a computer. |

They're unwatchable stretched to 16:9
I'm amazed all the major broadcasters do it, people must have doll's eyes. Quote:

Are you sure your TV isn't set to 16:9 or Auto? There should be a 4:3 option.
I can't remember the last time I saw a film go out stretched from 4X3 to 16X9, or a DVD for that matter. |
