Claude was looking quite handsome there with a smile on his face surrounded by cake
Wait for a few days and his waistband on his trousers will be too tight.

But they aren't stale either! Online cakes can't be fresh, even if they are baked there and then, as delivery of them could take longer than a day, unless she has vans waiting for each bake to finish!
There are bakeries who make fresh items where people are to buy them. I know cause I've seen them. Supermarkets bake them on the day, and if any cake is still on their shelves they're taken away. Alana can't do that can she!
What exactly do you think goes into cakes that have a shelf life of 12 months? There will be more preservatives than sugar! Most freshly made cakes have a shelf life of 5 or 6 days except those filled with fresh cream. Many if the supermarket cakes are indeed 'taken away' only to be put back the following day., new ones only being baked when the first lot is sold.

Alana, and no other cake or sweet manufacturer in the World, would expect people to eat all their products in one go.
But some people do, and if Manufacturers cared about people they'd be more concerned about what type of product they produce.

But years ago I took one Manufacture to task, because of the risk posed in their products, and the result was their products were never stocked again. If more of the public complained about how manufacturers were getting away with iffy products, the people would get a better deal. Alana has a lot to learn, and hope she does.

For one-off purchase maybe, but for repeat business?
Of course these places have repeat business! They wouldn't survive and grow without it.

A good example is Lola's. They started out of one kitchen maybe 10 years ago? Now they have 21 stores/locations in the south east, several more internationally and a thriving online ordering service. I know people who regularly buy from them - £3 for a cupcake, up to something like £60 (possibly more) for a cake.

They are not allowed to be re-sold, and are binned.
