Of course these places have repeat business! They wouldn't survive and grow without it.

A good example is Lola's. They started out of one kitchen maybe 10 years ago? Now they have 21 stores/locations in the south east, several more internationally and a thriving online ordering service. I know people who regularly buy from them - £3 for a cupcake, up to something like £60 (possibly more) for a cake.
Same people perhaps, who has money to waste, and less sense

They are not allowed to be re-sold, and are binned.
Think you may be in for a shock!

A friend of mine was a manager of a well-known brand of cake-shops, and the instructions from head Office would horrify you. Smoke and mirrors

Cardboards cut outs of Claude and Karren, where Alana can chuck cake mix on them.

The portable KarreClaude made me laugh.

Every home should have one. (Or not.)

Wasn't talking about cake shops. I actually saw them dump them in a bin, for the pigs.

Arnold Schwartzenneggar is going to do it and instead of 'fired' he's going to say 'terminated' - fact.

Supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, cake shops.. they all have strict rules on when food has to be thrown out. And every restaurant, cafe, supermarket will stretch their stock to that point.

A cake made today would probably have a shelf life of about 4 days, assuming it's not been stuffed full of preservatives and airtight packaging (which Alana's cakes aren't, as far as we know). To think a shop (or restaurant, or cafe) would throw it after just one day when there are still 3 days it can be legally sold is laughable and simply not how food retailing works.

Years ago I used to be able to buy left overs for my ma and for us, but that was stopped and not even the assistants were allowed to buy them, as I asked at the time. In a cake shop as you call it, I used to get day old cake buns for ma, as they were still good enough to eat, and cheaper than when fresh as they made them. Cake shops used to have bakeries in them, but not any more. I'd go there for stalish buns, but they stopped keeping them after that. We didn't have the money buy freshly made. It was good while it lasted!

£3 though for a slice of rocky road? She may have to adjust her prices. Food festivals and shows are a captive market but she would only be able to sell to high end delis. I certainly wouldn't pay that amount.
