Do you prefer Christmas cards or Christmas texts?

I prefer Christmas cards. They look more individual for having the message written by the person. On a phone, all texts end up looking the same.

Sometimes we can draw sentimental value from Christmas cards, not just from people close to us, but from distinctive people we know briefly, such as through work.

It is sweet in a way when people text us individually to wish us a merry Christmas, preferably in addition to rather than instead of a card. It is just circular texts that do not name us individually that seem a bit pointless.

I do text people christmas morning but ive already sent them cards. I wouldnt not send cards

If your young then you are more likely to do Christmas texts.

But if you are older then you probably send Chtistmas cards

And if you are middle age or elderly then you definitely going to send Christmas cards

I suspect we'll be the last generation to send Christmas cards. I don't think many people under thirty bother anymore.

Christmas cards from family and close friends, otherwise I'd actually prefer if I got a text.

I still prefer cards to texts or e-cards, don't think people do send so many now though, mainly mine now are family ones. I guess times are changing

was talking with someone the other day and she said she no longer sends cards, it gets too expensive when stamps cost more than the cards and they're only going in the bin after Christmas so she'll just send out Merry Christmas messages.

Christmas Cards - they become part of our decorations in the living-room, I have some cotton strung between two points and hang the cards on it. Jr is always excited when it fills up.

I do texts for Happy New Year.

Seeing the cards in the room where you spend Christmas gives a warm glow. It reminds us that Christmas is all about kindness and sharing, and that the cards are from people who have those feelings about us as we do them.

I don't believe that my generation WILL be the last one that sends cards. This is the darkest time of year, with the earliest sunset on December 12, the shortest day on December 21 and the latest sunrise on December 30. We NEED something to bring brightness and cheerfulness into our lives. Christmas cards is one of the ways that we do so.

I think you are right. There is something much more personal and meaningful in taking the time to write a card and post it. Sending a text is very impersonal in that regards.

Oh, I agree that a card is much nicer than a text. But younger people just don't seem to send them the way our generation do, so I sadly think it's a dying custom.

Christmas cards to me equal someone sitting down at a table writing a huge list of all the people they know a feel the have to send a card to, normally weeks before Christmas.
Once written the obligation is fulfilled & everyone can get on with their life satisfied that they look like nice people & have a guilt free conscience.
Messages on the day feel far more personal to me. people have taken the time out of their day to drop you a message to say Happy Christmas which generally leads to a small text conversation, finding out how their children are, what they're up to etc.

Getting a bit of cardboard through the door with my name on it just seems odd to me now & I feel the same for birthdays too.
There is also the the environmental impact of all these bits of card being made, and transported numerous times around the country/world to think of.

Urgh, I really need to write my christmas cards.

Just done mine and I'm down to 10 this year and most of those are family.

How about a Christmas Ignore. That'll do me. Can't be arsed with me the rest of the year, why bother at Christmas? Sod off!
