Ore Oduba 'sparks £500,000 bidding war between BBC and ITV' after Strictly Come Dancing victory
Bosses are reportedly worried that the BBC Breakfast sports reporter will move to rival ITV

http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/o...idding-9482969

If true, then why would BBC been pushing for an Ore win like some have claimed

Sky Sports could be another broadcaster potentially after his services. Don't blame him if he decides to cash in on his new found fame and popularity, we'd all do it.

I think the agent's try and make the win a bargaining chip, I can't see him going anywhere. Who is going to pay him big money??.

ITV & Sky that's who... Ore is hot property right now with a TV Presenter experience behind him

I hope he doesn't go but in a way I wouldn't blame him if he did

The world's his oyster at the moment he should make the most of it. Thoroughly deserved.

Ah, nice bit of pure speculation. Ore signed a new contract in June so it's all academic.

how long does a contract run for, 12 months ?

If any longer and a TV channel were desperate to have him on board, I'm sure they're willing to pay the BBC for Ore's Contract.

They're looking at ways to give him more presenting work in addition to what he has now. Then of course they must start negotiating his next contract.

If that's true, and BBC Breakfast had to settle for Danny as their guest, it sort of points to where Ore is heading. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ore getting some of Phil Schofield's holiday weeks as a regular stand-in presenter, leading to a few more presenting gigs. Let's face it, Ore is a highly marketable presenter, and fulfills one of those diversity quotas these channels have. There are very, very few POC primetime presenters, and Ore now has the name recognition that advertisers want to see, and producers need before they'll sign off on a new hire.

I'm pretty sure one of This Morning's stipulations would have been that they got the first proper post-win interview - and it looks like Ore's given that to them. That will score lots of brownie points, if he's looking to them as a potential employer. Of course, he's a freelance worker, and can choose wherever he wants as his next job, so I say good luck to him. He's young, good looking and has an appealing personality - I'm really not surprised he's pretty much got the pick of jobs right now. If he chooses well, it could be a springboard to a seriously impressive future career in broadcasting.

ITV got their fingers burned a bit with Susanna Reid who has delivered poor ratings on GMB after increasing her profile on Strictly. I am not sure why ITV continue to think that slightly posh middle class BBC presenters will fit the ITV demography.

To be honest Danny being on BBC Breakfast points more to they thought he would win, and Ore was invited on This Morning to talk about the final - the fact he won was a bonus - I feel he will stick with BBC

Had to laugh at This Mornings twitter though :-

He won @bbcstrictly on Saturday, becoming the first @thismorning presenter to win the show, and today he's BACK! See you soon @OreOduba!💃

Cheeky ITV

A 40-something white, female BBC presenter is a rather different prospect from a 30 yr old black sports presenter, IMO, plus Ore has the 'winner' moniker that Susanna didn't have. Besides, I suspect Ore's Newsround and sports background puts him in a rather different category than a lot of other presenters. The fact that he's male is the biggest difference though - it's an automatic advantage on a channel that relies heavily on it's female demographic, especially with daytime TV.

I work from home and have BBC Breakfast on in the background. Always fancied the pants off Ore. Then he went on Strictly and my ladyboner died in about three nano seconds. Weird how these things work. I had never heard of Danny before, saw he had those soap-star American dayglo teeth and thought "I won't like you" - and yet he ended up my favourite after Tameka went. Still, though, not in a ladyboner way.

I had nobody to fancy on this year's Strictly. I hope they do better for me next year.

he's a better dancer than he is a sports presenter, so it'd be no big loss to the beeb...

I've not seen much of Ore's presenting skills tbf but I can only assume those 'bidding' for his services didn't watch his performance covering the Olympics. Very much a product of Newsround/Blue Peter presenting.

This is what I have been saying for weeks.
"The BBC " (like it's a single person) hasn't been pushing for Ore to win as" one of their own", as this might be shooting themselves in the proverbial salary based foot.

Louise Rainbow might have been promoting him, but that's because he is personable and was good for HER show.
The driving force to any boost to his career has been has been from Ore and his agent.
Canny marketing from them. Nowt to do with "The BBC"

He won't disappear, he will always get some kind of presenting work. He would be crazy not to cash in presently whilst he is so current, this type of high profile will not come again.

Where? Back to his consistent working on assorted BBC programmes?
