Hurrah for Mr/Ms Postperson blackleg today!

Got some of the Xmas mail I'm still expecting today, notwithstanding the post strike. Thanks to whoever braved the picket lines, and the cries of 'Scab!' from Postman Pat.

I thought it was just some of the post office counter staff who were out, not the actual delivery team?

Yes only in main post offices too not all the smaller outlets so I can't see it causing too many problems. Our main office closed years ago anyway.

It's Crown Post Office (larger post offices) staff who are on strike, nothing to do with the Royal Mail.

The only thing that may cause real problems is when the cash handling people go on strike later in the week. This will mean that all Post Office branches don't get deliveries of UK and foreign cash and this might well prevent some / most transactions.

Shouldn't worry about foreign cash since most of the airports and British Airways will be on strike anyway.

Our postie was out, clocked walking past the house on the CCTV camera. Didn't get any post though, so no bills for me .

I had totally forgot about the strike.

You won't have to worry about the airports - that strike's been called off.

You do know it never affected deliveries and sorting offices? Only 3% of branches. #majorfail

Not only that, it's not even the same business. Royal Mail deliver mail and employ postmen, are a private company and are not on strike.

The Post Office is a public sector organisation that runs, well, Post Offices and has a strike at its few directly owned (Crown Office) branches.

The only impact on delivery of mail is that you won't be able to buy stamps or hand in parcels at the Post Office branches that are on strike.

I don't understand why so many people find it so hard to understand the difference. Mind you I used to have an aunt that still complained to Royal mail about her telephone more than 10 years after BT was privatised from the old Post Office organisation so perhaps it may take some time.

Did either ever do an episode of them on strike? Maybe a Christmas special is in order.

Postman Pat was never on strike.

He works for the Royal Mail not the Post Office.

As others have said, the Post Office is nothing to do with Royal Mail. It can be confusing these days as so many companies have been broken up and various bits are in different hands. So, P & O Cruises is nothing to do with P & O (who run ferries among other things), Rolls Royce cars are nothing to do with Rolls Royce (who make aero engines), Volvo cars are nothing to do with Volvo (who make trucks), SAAB is a Swedish aircraft manufacturer and nothing to do with the defunct car maker (which they sold off decades ago) and my Dunlop slippers are nothing to do with a brand of tyres (the company was split up years ago).

'Posterperson'.

Even if my postman was a woman, I'd still call her a postman.
