YAY.

If they put the effort in they can get a really good pop album out of her in 2017. Still worry they'll just try and go with a ballad cover album though that nobody will be arsed buying.

It doesn't mean that they are getting better treatment necessarily. Clearly Simon wasn't interested in working with him but it doesn't mean RCA won't give it their best shot. If anything they'll want to just to get one in the eye of their rivals.

From the article:

Sources have told Daily Star Online how the Finnish beauty has signed a joint deal with Mr Cowell's record label Syco and Sony Music Finland after Wemppa Koivumäki, the company's Managing Director, was blown away by Saara's vocals during the series.
Like I expected. Sony Music Finland.

Any Finnish music exec who is just hearing Saara for the first time hasn't been paying attention. She's been on the music scene for years and in a public way too--Voice of Finland, Eurovision contests, etc.

What he heard this time is the bigger publicity Saara has now.

I'm not bothered by Matt either way really so it makes no odds to me. But you could quite easily make a case for it being a positive that Matt is with RCA rather than Syco given Syco doesn't have the best record in knowing what to do with solo male winners. Of course that entirely depends on how much effort RCA put in but the same is true of any label. Ultimately the management and producers/writers he gets to work with is far more important than the distribution channel his material is delivered on.

RCA have had the likes of Eoghan Quigg, Marcus Collins and Andrea Faustini. Make of that what you will, although it might be a different situation this time round.

Considering the huge ratings the X Factor ended up having in Finland and all the press coverage she has been getting over there, this deal makes sense. I doubt Syco have any presence in Finland to take advantage of it.

Oh I know, their record with XF alumni isn't great either. I'm just saying that it's not necessarily a snub. If I were a label A&R I wouldn't really have a clue what to do with Matt to make him commercially appealing myself. He's too shiny to be convincing in an Ed Sheeran/James Bay singer-songwriter mould. If one wanted to go for the pretty boy angle, well, he can't dance and doesn't have much in the way of charisma or attitude so I can't see him giving Bieber a run for his money. Plus pretty boys generally do better with other pretty boys in a boy band.

But maybe. just maybe, someone at RCA has more of an idea what to do with him than anyone at Syco. It might just turn out to be a positive. I'm not really convincing myself let alone anyone else I'm sure, but it's still a possibility!

RCA are a more trustworthy company than Syco in assuring longevity. No guarantee Matt will succeed, but yes, I'd say it's better for him than being on Syco.

Also, with this Saara news, it must be pretty rough for Matt, as the winner, seeing Syco sign every act from the final bar him.

I'd be more interested in who is on RCA that is not there as a result of a reality show. Who are his "regular" label mates?

Within the RCA Label Group, they've got the likes of Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce. Although I'm not sure if that's exclusively RCA Records.

I was thinking more along the lines of who was signed by RCA UK as their primary label. Which non-reality UK artists were signed by them first?

Matt has no charisma or stage presence, and his voice is very by-the-numbers. Unfortunately, it's just a fact that Saara and 5AM are gonna be lot more successful.

Strange that there's nothing on Google about it. If true, this might mean that Sony Finland isn't aiming international for her, but just her country. Cowell's joint signing will mean that people in Britain, and maybe elsewhere as well, will be able to buy Saara's newly released albums.

Syco (plus RCA, Epic, etc) are owned by Sony so 'Syco + Sony' makes no sense.

It could be that Sony are allowing Cowell's label to deal with the international side of things for Saara and Sony will stick to Finland. Then again, it could just all be a load of rubbish! I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. I have a feeling that I'll not be able to buy any of her newly released albums in English.

Yes it does. The two entities are in a co venture with Sony handling most of the music side including the marketing. Syco only has 50 staffers or so. Also as we've seen with other XF artists being with the Sony umbrella means they can imprint internationally like with Columbia in the US.

Syco is part of Simco, is it not? Its been obvious to me since 2009 that Cowell is more interested with his televentures than anything Music related.

IMO, SYCO sees 5AM as the act with the most commercial potential. Since SYCO had success with manufactured groups, it's not surprising that they landed there.

Saara is a good singer and performer, but IMO she doesn't have what it takes to be a successful global or at least sort of global pop act. She is more AC - Adult Contemporary. She did some songs with europop arrangements on the X Factor, but came across really dated.
It makes sense to me that they hooked her up with the Sony label in her homeland - that will probably be best for her in the long term. SYCO can perhaps hook her up with some songwriters and producers and promote at least the first post XF album in the UK.
But I do think they believe she has limited commercial appeal. If SYCO thought they could make lots of money off of her globally they would not let Sony Music Finland come near her.

Matt ... well, I don't know. I think he has a better recording voice than Saara. He also seems to be media trained. It will all depend on what, if anything RCA decides to do with him. I hope they give him more than just an album of covers. I think he deserves better than that.

We will see on Friday if anyone wants to buy a Honey G single.

Don't see why not.
Almost all of the songs on her previous albums have been sung in English.
Why should she change that now she's been recognized in the UK. Wouldn't make any sense.

There are some benefits to signing with Sony Finland's management.
Not so much for Saara particularly.

Joint publishing appears to be the rule.
Looking at the jewel case of "In the arms of an angel" by Nicholas McDonald, it has the logos of all three: Syco music, RCA and Sony Music on the back side.
He was formally contracted by RCA,
The jewel case of Kelly by Andrea Faustini also has all three:
Sony Music, RCA and Syco.

Yup. I think all XF finalists are contractually bound to SYCO. The top finishers get signed - some to exclusively SYCO and the others are given to other Sony labels by SYCO.
