What's the point of it? Massive waste of time and unnecessary consumerism!

I like the selflessness and caring that seems to go on a lot more. Some great Facebook posts about giving and thinking of others first. Always gives me a warm feeling and puts a huge grin on my face, even cried multiple times at the weekend watching the videos.

The purpose of Christmas is to make us realise just how preferable ordinary day to day life is. I learnt this fact decades ago and feel after 62 Christmases I should really have time off for good behaviour.

I love Christmas, because watching blu-rays and playing video games feels much better than any other time for some reason.

As does eating half a year's supply of celebrations & Roses.

Family all together under the one roof again - presents, daft jokes, the cat squeezing itself into empty boxes, he kitten going daft with wrapping paper, son scoffingvcocktail sausages, me at the trifle, board games... roll on!

I used to enjoy it but now I'm not bothered about it. I would happily sleep through it this year. I just wish my university wasn't closed for so long as I have a lot to do.

Was offered a free can of Lynx today, threw it back at them, I'll have enough to last me all year come next week, thanks.

I like the religious side of it - carol services, nativity plays etc.

I also like the nostalgia, tradition and family get togethers that go with the season.

But I hate the way Christmas has become so commercialised and shallow and expensive. It's ruining what used to be a beautiful celebration.

I don't really do anything............ nobody visits me and I don't visit anyone else

I sent two cards, I got one present. A scarf which I'll put n the cupboard with all my other scarves

I don't do decorations or owt like that

my Christmas treats are very cheap for example having watched my diet all year round my main Christmas treat is chips and I'll probably have fried egg and chips for Christmas dinner.............and Boxing Day

In fact I'll have something and chips every day for about a week then I'll put the chip pan away for another year...............I suppose it's a bit like saying goodbye to your loved ones at the end of the festive period.............

It's the only day you don't have to feel guilty about drinking a glass of sherry at 10am

I hope you have fitted your smoke alarm before the start of chip pan week

It gives us something to moan about. We're British. We like to moan. Christmas is moanworthy. Its point is that it's moanworthy.

It also gives you something to make a thread about... so you have proved that it has a point.

Its one day and I'm all sorted, food sorted, tree up, gifts wrapped..and I'm off all week..

I am looking forward to New Years Eve myself, party next door..no taxi required.

Actually yes, for quite a few years now my favourite thing about Christmas has been the week to follow. December 26th - January 1st is usually one of my happiest weeks of the year.

Christmas Day is usually ok, but it's the run-up to Christmas that can be hard.

Well might be me but I find it dull tbh. A glorified Sunday except the shops are all closed. It's all the rushing around beforehand and panic buying, to create such a perfect day that I know it's Christmas.

I love Christmas, it's the one day a year when everyone can stop being busy and spend proper time together. The family come round and give each other gifts, eat together and even though I get all the work to do, it's worth it. I'm hoping one day one of my kids will be doing all the work and I can get to just turn up and enjoy the fruits of their labour like my mum does with me now.

I'm also the same for new year and would happily sleep through both.

This year though I've booked a 4 day break at the coast on my own to cover new years eve and day. £93 for 4 days
No plans, no ideas and very little budget. Just see what happens.
