Download time?
On average how long should it take for a one hour HD programme to download via the Sky HD box?

http://www.speedtest.net/result/5893253665.png At 70mbps that should take 25200/70 seconds About 6 minutes. The holdup must be down to the servers at the Sky end. That's about the time it takes for a iplayer-HD programme to become fully buffered on my HDR-FOX-T2. |

On Sky HD boxes the download speeds are capped at around 16-20Mbps.
An episode of Planet Earth II, which is 2.62GB, will take about 19 minutes to download. Sky Q boxes download faster. |

If so, that is why it would take so long. Not sure how big UHD file is, but a 12GB file will take over 9 hours at 3Mb to download, at full speed. |

Just because you have a fast connection doesn't mean the wifi in the area of your house where your Sky box is, is getting a good through put speed.

I've got a Sky+ 2tb box running the latest firmware and connected via ethernet to my Home Hub 6, find the films and other content downloads very quickly as I never have to wait more than about 10 seconds for download content to become available to play. Mind you, I am on their infinity package with a speed between 38-43meg.

Put your postcode on here, it will tell you the cabinet you use, and if it's being enabled soon (if it is that cabinet).
![]() Be nice if it marked where the cabinet is, as well as the exchange (which is fairly pointless). |

Sky's download system can be finnicky. I have a good, fast internet connection, and a flawless home network, but until a few months ago Sky downloads took forever. Quote:
Unfortunately it doesn't tell you that the cabinet is outside one edge of the village, and so far away as to only offer sub-ADSL speeds
