The return of Peter Mandelson
Palafrugel
19-12-2016
Sadiq Khan has hired Peter Mandelson to advise him on Brexit. These two had a major bust up a while back in 2010 - seems they are getting on well again. Not very pleased to see Peter Mandelson back on the scene.

Interesting re Mandelson

Sadiq Khan is appointing as an EU advisor a former EU Commissioner who is banned from ever criticising the EU at risk of losing a significant pension

Well at least we know Khan only wants pro-EU advice on Brexit.

Khan's group is called the "Brexit Expert Advisory Panel", not the "Man in the Pub Says the First Half-Assed Thing that Comes into His Head Advisory Panel" so no surprise there.

He must be struggling if he has to co-opt the likes of Mandelson to advise him.

Surely there "qualified" people out there who haven't had to resign their jobs as a result of less than open and above board activities?

Perhaps, but on the other hand "The panel will help the Mayor prepare for these meetings so that he can push for the best solutions for the capital and members will meet on an ad hoc basis." so the only difference is that it's rich people and a posher tipple-hut than a pub.

You could probably do quite well by going round pubs and collecting quotes and suggestions and only keeping the sane-sounding ones, and as an added bonus get utterly bladdered under the guise of market rzsearsch esszessneennential hosspit hossptalty spenses you're my best mate I love you man wezzakebabshop etc

Sadiq or the Invisible Mayor as many know him seems to have rather dodgy judgement in general now reconfirmed by hiring He who shall not be named .

Mandelson is equivalent to GOT's Peter Baelish. Extremely valuable and a worthy adversary.

So, are you saying you would not give your services for free to promote the EU?

In any case, Mandy can do a far camper job than I ever could.

I actually quite like Mandelson.

His "Lieder ohne Worte" are some of my favourite pieces.

Sadiq Khan is like some poor House of Cards character. He's trying to manipulate his way to power but everything he does is completely transparent.

At least we can console ourselves by the fact that Mandelson now seems reduced to helping out inconsequential local councillors.
