If they're finally trimming some of the fat and getting rid of people that's a good thing. But I'm a bit worried they're only going after easy targets.

While I don't think Steph adds much I'd sooner see her stay in favour of some of the more entrenched and aggravating dead wood like Sean and Michelle going. Although if they can all go that's even better.

I hope Robert, Billy and Izzy are next.

This is a shame as I like her and Andy, they also work as a pair but after Andy's introduction the writers/storyliners have failed to give them anything decent to do.

I think it is a real shame esp as they need to be increasing the cast not reducing it!

I guess that Toyah will be the bistro manager then whilst Leanne is on maternity

Hadn't thought of this lea but you're obviously correct. A good clear out allowing Toyah to join the work force for a few weeks before assuming the manager role when Leanne 'suddenly' goes into labour ...

Utter shite, as usual.

Picking off the easy targets, instead of the dead wood "much loved characters."

There is little chance of Sean or Michelle getting the push, mores the pity. Too much deadwood should be given the push, who bring next to nothing to the show.

Sinead, Ches,Kirk,Luke, Aliya,Erica,Sophie and Mary. Doubt many of these will be pushed either in the near future but we live in hope.

I know I may be in the minority and maybe its early days, but could do with less of the Barlows, well the 2 new ones. Ifear that KO is trying to revolve the street around a few families, Barlows, Platts McDonalds Websters and Battersbys. With such little focus the stotylines will be come even more outrageous and far fetched

The characters in bold on your list are easily expendable I feel and in an ideal world would be eradicated at the first opportunity.

Sadly the 'families' you talk about are just one big squirming mess of Barlows, Platts, McDonalds and Battersbys. Only the Websters escape from the tangled web.

These big, intertwined webs of characters are NOT Corrie. ITV love to congratulate themselves on everything that they do being 'very Corrie', but having numerous members of the show's central families shag each other, exchange bodily fluids, pop out kids with ambiguous paternity and then have 'explosive' feuds is nothing at all to do with Corrie.

It's a shame, but Steph should've been a great character. No form of direction or decent storyline. The revenge porn storyline wasn't greatly received and didn't add anything to the soap other than being largely forgotten!

Looks like Luke will be on his way next. Agree there are some other characters who have perhaps outstayed their welcome; won't be surprised if the Usual Suspects cling on to see another day though.

Take that back what you said about Izzie. Even mentioning her name alongside those two makes my blood boil. One wouldn't even make a decent Christmas tree no matter how many lights you hung on him. The other should be a non speaking extra walking up and down the street wearing a sandwich board advertising the local dentist with his brilliant white choppers. How dare you. Take that back.

Steph is a decent actress, but they've never done anything with her. Corrie's track record with black actors/characters is truly appalling. I like Luke actually, hope he doesn't go next. Other characters definitely need to go - Chesney, Sinead, Fiz, Tyrone, Kirk, Beth, Craig and the Nazirs - all completely useless.

On a slightly different tack, Sarah is just a non-entity. She has no clearly defined personality and personally I think if they can't decide who or what she is, she should go too.

Spot on Noxy.

Corrie has a revolving door used only by mixed race female characters:

Fiona Middleton
Bobbi Lewis
Kelly Crabtree
Cheryl Gray
Kirsty Soames
Steph Britton

Their only successes were with Fiona Middleton in the 90s, who was essentially a decent character (in spite of being miserable 24/7) and played by a good actress and Kirsty Soames, who was always going to be a short-term character given her storyline.

Kelly lasted six years, but she wasn't very likeable. She thought she was better than Weatherfield, so in a sense that always gave her a shelf life, because ultimately she was always going to move on when the right opportunity came her way.

I don't think any of them really *worked*, especially not Kelly who was a caricature from pretty much the moment she arrived. Her pantomime exit was also demonstrative of a character that was never going to be taken seriously, which was a shame as Tupele Dorgu is a good actress.

You can hardly blame the poor girl - Has she ever been seen outside the sodding bistro?

Put her up in a luxury pad on Deansgate with a live-in cook and a fridge full of Bollinger.
I think she's earned it.

This. Or being obsessed with Luke's relationships and complaining.

Well I like Steph & Luke - I'd much rather they got rid of Kathy & Nessa.

And yes, Corrie is getting worse, awful unbelievable story lines.

I really like Steph. I really wanted them to introduce her and Luke's family. gutted. I prefer her a lot more than the likes of Maria and Eva

You'd have a point if it wasn't for the additional workshop that Kevin opened not so long ago under the viaduct. Not that we often see it but 4 mechanics and a stroppy, know-it-all clipboard wielder doesn't seem unreasonable.

What isn't realistic is the lack of cars they have waiting around to be fixed/serviced or collected. In most garages you can hardly move for them, certainly when I take my car in, I sometimes have to leave it wherever I can and let them move it somewhere. I'd never have that problem at Kevin's!”

But that's what's so laughable, this extra workshop Kev's opening up when there hardly seems enough to keep the usual one in business!

They'll probably just get a few extra cars in with the bonnets up to make it look busy. Oh btw who's been holding Sophie's clipboard whilst she's been away? that clipboard is an integral part of the running of the garage so I think this needs to be addressed.

I like her a lot but they could have done so much more with her and should have.

I think Derek Griffiths should have been cast as their dad (His character is a bit random tbh). A mum should have been brought in and they could have been a family unit on the street
