Is there problems with using the real brand names?

Dr Leah was allowed to get several name checks, but they didn't go with the brand she created in the final ep.

You mean why weren't they called Bubblegum Stuff and Narnas?

I assume part of the task is to come up with a new name and branding. Though I would have thought the candidates might know this and have something ready - wasn't it the same last year?

Perhaps it is so the BBC is not seen to be advertising the companies? As remember food packages being covered up on Masterchef to 'sticky back plastic' on Blue Peter.

If they didn't have to create a new name and brand they wouldn't have much to do. Both their existing businesses have websites, packaging etc ... this way as a task you get more of a start to finish feeling....

Lord Sugar wanted to see how they went about creating their branding. It was about who they would work with and how they would delegate. Alana's important moment was when she decided to put her name on the Brand and when the Welsh stamp was put on the box.
Lord Sugar liked the idea of it being set up in Wales, with job opportunities there. Often the businesses are London based.

Well they would have lots to do as both of their websites and brands look very amature. I'd rather see them trying to improve their brand than just create a new fake one that will be ditched.

Yes but the problem is it's not very visual. If both start with an already established business then spend 40 mins tweaking their websites it's not great viewing. The task itself is full of faults as LS asked them to demonstrate growth and scale- ability etc but again it would be incredibly dull to watch Alana compiling lists of deli's around the country or visiting kitchen suppliers or looking at different outsourcing options. Courtney to be fair attempted to show how his bottle could grow into a mass market product but at the end of the day he just came up with a design for a bottle and there was no real proof it would be the amazing success he claimed it would be.

Again it's the format. When the prize was a job the last task was much more varied and exciting. Now it has to be around their existing businesses but there is only a limited amount they can do. By having to 'launch' their business they are getting the chance to re-brand and re-launch according to their business plans and what they would do if they won ... supposedly!

maybe they don't feel comfortable advertising until LS starts business with the winner and the money is sorted?

Possibly because backstage they're told Sugar didn't like either of their existing brand names, though he liked the core concepts?

I think your right. Allana called hers "sugar and whatever her surname is" on her business plan. And was told that wouldn't float.

Id quite like to of seen them rebranding their amature brands into something pro and building a new website.
