Personally I'd ditch it because I rarely like them, but that's a personal thing. Even this year when everyone's raving over Danny and Ore's I didn't connect with any of them, and to be honest found Danny's faintly embarrassing.

They always try too hard in the show dances and really good dances fail to set the stage alight.
The best showdance ever was Tom Chambers. Nothing since then has wowed me until this year where both Ore and Dannys show dances were amazing.
I hated Louises and I hated Caroline Flacks and Louis Smiths even though everyone seemed to love them. I just recall Louis standing on a beam and doing gymnastics. Most overrated showdance ever!

nooo. time to make it compulsory to do one of those stretch-tastic, acrobatic, cique du soliel numbers that we used to see showcased in the week running up to the final.
Instead of the Waltzathon or ChaChaChaChallenge, next year give us the Bacofoil Bonanza! Seven remaining couples, in iridescent bodysuits, writhing and wriggling in a massive contempofaff off!

Whilst I agree about Caroline and Louise, I also didn't like Tom Chambers showdance I thought that was overrated and really thought the winners that year were Rachel and Vincent for me. However, the best showdance ever for me was Louis Smith and also my favourite dancer ever on Strictly.

No, I don't think we need to axe the Showdances.

I'm not super keen on showdances but I think they final needs them (or something similar, at least).

There has to be something different about the final, something to hype up, and as others say, something that gives the celeb & pro a chance to express themselves.

Wasn't even a dance, just Louis poncing about in leggings and lifting Flavia up.

As opposed to the disco dancing (cf. Kimberley Walsh, Chelsee Healey and Darren Gough) or contemporary dance waft (cf. Louise and many others) with lifts or just plain old liftathons (cf. Denise Van Outen) that usually characterise showdances you mean. At least Louis's showdance was different and actually male gymnastics has no component of moving to music at all even their floor routines are done without them so yes it would have been something not in the run of the mill of the day job for Louis to have done that it was no more a busman's holiday of a showdance that Kimberley Walsh's bopping around in hers would have been.

None of the showdances that year were great but i just hated Louis overall and don't understand why it is so celebrated even to this day.

Me too. Ore's just repeated one of his other dances with bonus fake drums. Danny's was cringey. But this year did give us Louise laughing like a drain all through Kevin's earnest attempt at a Bacofoil reprise. It was my favourite bit of the entire final.

The show dance rarely does anything for me; I would be quite happy to let it drop.
