Most of them don't appear terribly bright. Fortunately. The bright ones aren't taken in so easily by brainwashing.

Just sometimes That's one FM I have as little do do with as possible.

Pretty sure temporary permits are handed out to people given asylum as well, so he still could've come in among the crowd and received one that way. All speculation at this point in any case.

German media/police have said there is evidence that the Polish man in the cab with the driver, struggled with the driver and that may have caused the perpetrator to drop his ID card.

Listening to the World Service earlier, and apparently ISIS issue a monthy magazine in several languages. In the last one, ISIS recommended driving lorries through crowded as an effective means of terrorism, since the target was soft, the operation simple, and the weapon not classed as a weapon.

Incidentally, I'm very pleased to note that Berlin Muslims have been demonstrating for peace, calling Berlin their home and a City they love, as well as distancing themselves from Islamist radicals (BBC News a few minutes ago)

Have you ever wondered why you evoke sharp responses? There's a common denominator here.

A lot of earnest guardianistas praying for this killer to be a white protestant Bavarian.

But we know that's not going to happen.

Of course. In the extremely unlikely event that it turns out to be a local white man, then it'll be lauded as an example of 'right wing terrorism'. WHEN it is confirmed as another example of Islamic terrorism, we'll hear all about mental illness, how this has nothing to do with Islam, and BBC & Sky will report it as a terrorist attack with 'terrorist' written in inverted commas. The culture war is becoming more and more obvious each day.

I find it kind of sad that 20 people have died and BOTH sides are pretty desperate for the killer to be their particular brand of boogeyman.

Report button's there for use by all when appropriate, difference is I don't insult people personally as deflection so I'm not providing the requisite ammunition for those who are unable to remain civil.

...

Lot of people should be ashamed in this thread of jumping to conclusions and using that as an excuse to advocate draconian measures against entire groups of people who've done nothing wrong. Pretty disgraceful stuff.

Oh dear

Better believing some group who actually commits acts of terrorism regularly than a conspiracy theorist

OK, fair enough. But I'd be interested to know what posts you've observed such assertions. Apart from the rather odd musings of one now inactive member, the thread has been mostly pretty reasonable, and although I admit I may have missed what you mean, I've certainly not personally noted it.

Photos of the new suspect have been published in the German press this morning. They have either blacked out or blurred the area around his eyes making it much more difficult for anyone to recognise him. Privacy laws apparently.

Exactly - and rife on this thread from page 1 - and so many people, bashing each other here cannot see that.

I can see one in UK press now, uncensored, plus his last name. Assume it must be a leak.
(Suppose there's a chance it's a fake ID/ someone else's too.)

I wonder if there's an argument for waiving such rules in terrorism cases.

You'd surely have to balance the need for privacy with the vital requirement for public safety.

Just a thought, anyway.

According to UK press Germany has strict privacy laws. In this situation I'd say stuff his right to privacy. He needs to be found whatever the outcome either to charge him or rule him out. I don't know if the authorities have this man's DNA but what is believed to be the suspect's blood is in the truck. If the power that be do have his DNA then his full photo should be shown so he can be found.

Yes, there's definitely a case - the rights of innocent citizens to maximum possible protection from terrorists should trump this "privacy rights" nonsense. Anything that can help to identify an established suspect should be available.
If the various sources are correct this man has other identities and has also used fake Italian-issued ID since arriving in W Europe as a "refugee". Covering up his eyes in released ID photos is not just ridiculous, it's scandalous.

I was going to reply to this accusation of 'people' here when if I recall correctly it was only the one person but couldn't be bothered, however after seeing this one quoted below where you say it's a lot of people then perhaps you could point them out.

You said you 'don't insult people personally', you do it en masse instead.
