I was said he was in both countries illegally. He travelled without papers & used various names & nationalities.
It was up to those countries to deport him. The fact that he could travel around Europe with no passport or papers is ridiculous. As far as we are concerned it is already changing, we flew into Spain last September and though we were previously just waved through this time they took finger prints, eye photos, and copied passports |

Parents of a victim of the truck killer were asked for their thoughts as they visited the scene of the massacre. Their son is now in a coma.

Amri had served time in an Italian prison ie. another EU country. There's no way someone like that should even be eligible to make an asylum application and he should have been deported before now.
Introducing hard borders and customs posts throughout the EU just in order to deter a handful of potential terrorists from moving from country to country (which might not even work) could be a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water. By all means there should be rigid enforcement at the external borders but stopping and questioning every single person who wants to travel from France to Belgium or Holland to Germany would be a very drastic step. Conflicting reports on how he was radicalised- either in prison or targeted by ISIS recruiters around Lampedusa when he was rough sleeping. ( It's only very recently that we sent personnel to monitor at refugee landing points. ) I haven't read anywhere that estimates numbers as "a handful" . Where numbers of impostor refugees are unknown ( due to so few having bona fide IDs) combined with existent resident nationals ( stats for German "persons of interest" was posted upthread) who can criss cross borders for funding, illegal arms, reconn, attacks then altogether it currently makes free borders a security nightmare with severe political repercussions as we can see. Germany already re-introduced some border checks but obviously he knew where to avoid on exit from Germany so that has not achieved anything. There's a reason the Tunisisan took the long route, avoided Aust & Switz in his run back to Italy. Could it be based on - Switz doesn't allow passport free travel AFAIK - Aust reimposed selective border checks last year you can see where I'm going with that when you look at the route he traced...... |

Agree that he appears to have been radicalised in Italy, that's why I posted about France & Italy having questions to answer.

I'm not sure either I'd trust the likes of Le Pen, Wilders and Farage on this one. They already want a Europe of hard borders and sovereign nation states, so of course they're going to seize on the the issue in the way they have done today. |

They shouldn't have a say in it if that's their country of origin, that's where they should be returned to - no ifs no buts.

It would seem that not all of his family were in shock and surprise at Amri's actions.

Do Eritrean asylum seekers count as home grown ?
No doubt if they are convicted, once released they will be allowed to stay as it will be too dangerous to send them home.

Oh, not forgetting to send some of that free money back to the country that supposedly is to dangerous to live in (but obviously not to dangerous to have holidays in!) |

UK has just taken it off the unsafe countries list, AFAIK. (So no Eritrean has an automatic right.) Over here in the UK we seem to be processing suspects every month for last couple of years- I appreciate that many end up found not guilty . ( Indeed just out of the 6 arrested, 4 have been released without charge.) |

Well if you want to blow up a country it's more convenient to live there first and understand how things work and plan your attack.
Murdered 168 and injured over 600 more. |

We've had cases where people have been here quite a few years and then suddenly "heeded the call" to murder, due to a combination of poisonous influences. (If it weren't so complicated it would be an easier problem to solve. Hate begets hate though, we can be sure of that.) No details released yet re. how long this Eritrean suspect was here/his back story. |
