The present strikes are not affecting me, and having done my share of blue collar work in the past, I was glad to have the protection of the union at times.
If the ordinary Joes are really getting screwed, then I don't blame them for withdrawing their labour, but I'm not happy with the R.M.T. and/or A.S.L.E.F. bleating about 'passenger safety.'
Get real, they want to hang on to every job that they can, nothing wrong with that, but don't give us the B.S. that they've walked out to protect passengers lives.
I can imagine that eventually, the train companies, leaned on by the government, will negotiate that the superfluous guards will go, with inflation busting bribes, sorry, pay offs, and the drivers will get £5000 inducements to return to work, and safely close the doors, which they already do.
