I thought this thread was about sport, not playing with a children's toy.

Pete Sampras, Zidane and Muhammad Ali I would change from your list OP

Cricket and Rugby I don't know nothing about, although I used to watch a cricket little when I was a kid, Graham Thorpe comes to mind.

Given that at the time they employed Vince Russo, I think not.
Shows how good some of them were to make Russo's crap look half creadable.

Plus most of those mentioned never really followed the script or were given one all they were given was a few basics and did the rest themselves.

True. Russo was at his worst at the end of WCW, when it was essentially him, Schiavonne and Hogan writing things.

One of the most dominant in their chosen sport was Aleksandr Karelin. He won 3 consecutive Olympic golds and the world championships in Greco-Roman wrestling 10 years in a row.

Professional wrestlers have typically always worked out the sequence in the ring between themselves, but the build up to and outcome of each match is decided by the booker and other creative writers isn't it?

More or less. Some wrestlers prefer it more structured than others.

I used to sometimes have Eurosport on when the somewhat obscure sport of motorcycle trial riding would come on. There was a bloke in that called Dougie Lampkin who won 5 world indoor championships and 7 outdoor ones in a row. Not quite as impressive but still dominant. Relevant video for this time of year of him riding through a giant igloo - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0NZlvXR0jc

Ed Moses was really dominant at the 400m hurdles in the 80s (maybe into the 90s too?). Won a ridiculous amount of races in a row.

Yes but some have the storylines wrote for them others are just given the basic idea and who wins/loses (And sometimes only find that out just as they are walking out the curtain) and work out everything else themselves Inc promos and backstage stuff.

Of course some also have creative control (They can refuse to lose if they don't want to)

As already mentioned, there is a compelling case for Don Bradman. 🏏

In my lifetime, I would have to say no sportsman has excited me more than Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Kirk Douglas - he beat Gladiators, Norse Vikings endlessly repeated and still lives at 100 years old.

A question that will be impossible to get a consensus from, but people like Jesse Owens must surely be up there?

When you consider the environment he excelled in, that's pretty amazing and something very few athletes have had to endure since....and not just whilst in Germany, either. The way in which his own country treated him was pretty awful.

I hate him, but you can't argue at what he has done for Darts.

Boxing, Sugar Ray Robinson....Lost 19 fights and Ali would have beaten him
you can't hold that against him seeing as he was a middleweight

Agreed! Won multiple golds in a country whose government considered him to be subhuman. Fortunately the German people really liked him so it wasn't all bad. Every other contender did their stuff on friendly turf.
