When my children were in their teens we would come down and find all sorts of bodies littered around the place. Always had supplies of bacon and eggs in the fridge for the weekend seemed to be the popular choice

Ask who the fork she was at first, what the hell she was doing in my house and take it from there. Hard to say what I'd do, until I knew the above.

Why wouldn't you call the police? That will protect the drunk woman and yourself. Seems pretty obvious to me.

First ask my husband why he hadn't noticed as that's where he tends to sit when he's home, then ask my nephew who lives with us who he had brought home and why he thought it appropriate to let her sleep on our sofa.

Interesting situation.
Here a video from the US of a couple finding a total stranger curled up on their sofa, who somehow snuck into the house and took a nap. They try to throw her out. She's clearly drunk and wants to sleep off the booze. I'd want to help her by sobering her up and getting hold of her parents/friends rather than call the police as she's behaving and compliant. What would you do, given that she's a stranger, clearly drunk, lost and disorientated - Throw her in the street? call her a taxi etc, let her sleep off the booze with some supervision? |

Call the police. If there are no offences, just a confused drunk person, they can find out where they live and take them there (or arrange for a friend/relative to collect them). This happens all the time. They won't be arrested and people don't get taken to the cells to sleep it off anymore.

She might have anything in mind, like accusing you of trying to kidnap/molest her, or whatever. |

It's not a question of being physically scared, it's more to do with lies being uttered by the person concerned and you being caught by apparent circumstantial evidence. I wouldn't take any chances, being on my own. If I was part of a couple like in the video, it's a very different matter. |

Big difference. You're a woman, she's not going to accuse you of sexual assault.

It's woman, for Christ's sake.
I've asked a number of times, and on facebook where I've also seen it. I have yet to receive even an acknowledgement. Bizarre to say the least. |

no, i get that it might make some men feel uncomfortable if they were alone in that respect [though to be fair, that`s no men that i know, they wouldn`t even think like that, their first thought would be to see is she ok] but it`s not all men answering here.
i just find it a curious switch is all and a bit of an eyeopener. I'd be a lot more comfortable with saying "eh, what's your game mate?" to a bloke. In a different reality, there'd be no problem, but sadly we don't live in that type of world, unfortunately. |

Let's put it like this - I would far far rather discover a random bloke asleep on my sofa, than a woman, especially a young woman - and I'm not gay. It's called self preservation.

I'd call the police and record the woman on my phone until they showed up, just in case I get falsely accused of something.

You shouldnt be engaging either. If they're asleep, phone the police regardless of their sex.

If you can afford it, your best bet is to have CCTV all over the house. That doesn't lie, but would prove what did happen, and how the individual got into the house. |

It sounded like she was saying, comped, not copped this house, as in what casinos do for high rollers, they "comp" their food, drinks, and accommodation.
It's short for complimentary, maybe she'd been in a situation, perhaps 'servicing' a few guys for drugs and/or alcohol and someone had said, "don't worry about going home, we'll comp you a house." |
