Blind cat - insurance
hi guys
We are looking at adopting a blind kitten from RSPCA. She is 4 months old and has a neurological condition and of course blind. She isn't expected to live as long as most cats due to her condition. We've been looking for insurance. Because she has a pre-existing medical condition we're struggling to find an insurer who will take her on (or rather cover the pre-existing medical condition). The only one we've found so far will only cover her till she's 8 - and it's quite expensive too. Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks for any help |

Are you positive they will only cover the cat until it's 8? Most won't take on new cover for animals over 8 but carry on covering existing customers until you cancel it no matter what age they are. One of my dogs is with PetPlan and I switched him to them when he was 7 and they'll cover him for life but wouldn't have taken him on once he got to 8. He has pre existing eye problems and no insurer would cover his eyes for anything, even if it was unconnected to his pre existing eye disease so we just have to suck it up. I'm a big fan of PetPlan.
I think vetsmedicover will cover some pre existing conditions but you'd need to speak to them to be sure. |
