What was the man to do? Not discuss in any way shape or form the whys and wherefores of his wife's murder? Should he have pretended (like lots on here) that it was in no way related to the political goings on at that time - should he pretend that Farage's poster wasn't in the least racist?

His wife was a politician - whenever he discusses it there is going to be something 'political' about it.

It was a shameful and shocking event - why should the man shut up? He has every right to voice his opinion however uncomfortable it makes scum bags like Farage and his equally scummy supporters.

There - I've said it!

Absolutely spot on.

She had just been murdered and his first thoughts were political moves.

Remember the campaign to have him elected in her seat?

A very very dis-likable person.

I don't have much respect for Brendan Cox I think he is a chancer for all sorts of reasons that might become apparent later but by the same token I am not a supporter of Farage generally.

But let us get some perspective politics are politics they take no prisoners on either side.”

Some even blamed the migrant queue poster.

You can be informed about extremists without being an extremist yourself which is basically what Farage was saying IMO

These people really hate freedom of speech too. They even banned me from their Facebook site just for pointing out that UKIP had an active LGBTQ group. I guess it didn't go with their hateful rhetoric towards UKIP.

It was so funny to see them get a taste of their own medicine when they got no platformed by the NUS (not that i support the NUS for doing so) :

There was a few calls for him to stand, but he quickly said he had no interest in doing so because he had to look after his children. It is completely callous and untrue to suggest his first thoughts were political posturing.

Interesting to see certain Kippers and Brexiteers starting to smear the man so soon after his wife was murdered.

How do you think the migrants travel across the EU?

Thankfully we have you, who seems to know him so well, to tell us what his first thoughts were.

And you know him well enough to dislike him.

So, when did you first meet him?

As for Farage, a dangerous man defended by useful idiots.

Well I think we know that most refugees/migrants travel on foot. I think we know that the poster used a photograph of a line of people travelling to Slovenia.

I think we know too why Farage chose this particular photograph to stir up fear and antagonism (which he succeeded in doing) - quite what it had to do with our vote whether to leave the EU or not is still a bit of a mystery really though.

Who knows what goes on in that bigoted, twisted, hate filled, small mind of his?

We also know that the poster was very similar to a Nazi propaganda poster in shape of the queue, density of people and message it was delivering. Obviously a total coincidence, but also interesting to note that the only white face in the Farage poster was obscured.

The post was not dishonest as it was the message Farage was giving.
You jumped straight to the defence of Farage, but twisting the words and applying spin.
Farage was accusing Brendan Cox of being an extremist by association with a group he considers to be extreme.
This from someone who made the crass comment that Leave won "without a bullet being fired". Tell that to Brendan Cox.

So it's just a poster of migrants walking in a line? OMG shocking

Maybe it was to highlight the EU was failing us ALL? Cameron after all did warn us that there could be migrant camps in Kent if we voted to leave. Maybe Farage was just highlighting how they arrive in the EU.

Well you seem to know apparently. I do love a good mind reader.

What photo that was widely used the media would you deem appropriate? Maybe a huge poster of the violence in Calais?

Desperation from the Farage haters.

Now they're telling people online to pay for legal action against him. Why not donate money to something useful like a charity. The court case will come to nothing anyway.

”

The attempt to connect the migrant crisis of 2015 with Britain's membership of the EU was very misleading. How many of those refugees / migrants have actually entered the UK even now as of Christmas 2016?

Merkel allowed refugees / migrants into Germany in her role as Chancellor, it had nothing to do with the EU and was not authorised by them.

I never even thought of it. You know why? Because I had already seen that photo in most newspapers and articles online.

What photo do you think he should have used for the poster?

I quoted the words Farage used. The only one twisting them is you. Farage explained why he said what he said ie

yes, well of course he would know more about extremists than me, Mr Cox. He backs organisations like Hope Not Hate who masquerade as being lovely and peaceful but actually pursue violent and very undemocratic means.

OK so you don't agree with him but that does not mean he is wrong or nasty you need to come up with more than you have to justify that assertion.

Oh and bringing in the bullet comment is crass of you unless of course you are saying Thomas Mair was in Farage's pay. Really there were times a few years ago when you did so so much better and wrote considered and insightful posts. Alas those days are long gone IMO for some reason

How is it misleading? Merkel opened the doors, the migrants arrived, they travelled across the EU, and some of those migrants are arriving here. Even Cameron said there could be camps in Kent if we decided to leave.....so he obviously thought it was all connected.

Well I don't have a figure. It's hard to tally up the numbers when they are arriving in lorries. I would love to know myself.

Well that would depend on what he was trying to say. I think he was trying to stir up fear and anti immigrant feeling in which case he succeeded without a shadow of doubt.

It had bugger all to do with leaving the EU. The photo had been in the press as a 'human interest' news story about the refugee crisis it had no place on an anti EU poster.

So you only think he may have been trying to stir up fear? The migrant crisis affects us all. I see no problem in highlighting that.

That is incorrect. The refugees and migrants that were accepted last year have no rights to leave Germany and move around the EU as they are not EU citizens (freedom of movement applies to EU citizens only), therefore they must remain in Germany.

There has been talk of some of them being dispersed around the EU and a very limited number of refugees have been officially accepted into other EU states (including the UK and Ireland) as official asylum seekers.

But what does it have to do with leave/staying in the EU?

The migrant crisis affects us whether we're in or out - makes not a jot of difference.

How was it relevant to the EU Referendum?
