An awful period in music that saw just 3 big record labels dominate the mediocre charts. That said, artists have been fighting back and some wonderful gems have slipped through the net.

Maroon 5 & Christina Agulera - Moves Like Jagger
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEPTlhBmwRg
This hit never fails to get people on the dance floor, it sounds as current now as when it was released, and people will still be dancing to this in 30 years like they do now with Candi Statton Young Hearts Run Free.

Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts
https://youtu.be/8v_4O44sfjM
A timeless, beautiful ballad

The Wanted - Glad You Came
https://youtu.be/2ggzxInyzVE

Lady Gaga - Judas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wagn8Wrmzuc
Probably the best, most talented and creative artist of this period, Lady gaga brought an 80s Madonna figure to a new generation of fans.

Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp-EO5I60KA
If Lady Gaga takes the crown of most talented and creative female, Ed must surely represent the males in this catagory. Extremly talented performer and song writer who willl be celebrated as much as John Lennon.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know
https://youtu.be/8UVNT4wvIGY
The 2010's version of the Beautiful South

Shoutouts to Pink, Carly Rae Jepson, John Legend, Mumford & Sons, Pitbull, Ke$ha, Ella Henderson, Owl City etc

Number ones of each year starting with 2010 to jog your brain (each song played for 5 seconds)

I take back what I said at the start of the thread. 2010 - 2015 is brimming with fresh talent and is almost as brilliant as the 80s and 90s.

Just as with the 80's and 90's, the early 2010's now seems a lot better with hindsight because the dross that ends up peaking anywhere between 11-40 gets largely forgotten. The decade hasn't really been that bad, I've enjoyed the majority of songs that have made the top 10.

My favourite number one of the decade so far (purely off the top of my head) would probably be Justin Timberlake - Mirrors. But I'm sure there are others I prefer if I bothered to do some research.
