You've had your eyes closed when looking at credit application forms then. Once again, and this is getting tedious, not every person has their employment checked. But as I said, not putting your work number down means you get fewer points for your application.
Maybe you're talking about lower tier companies offer credit to those with a poor history but what you are describing isn't true of reputable banks. And as I said I've applied for plenty of credit in my time, never been declined and never put my work number down |

No I really haven't. I've worked in the financial industry since I was 18 and I'm now in a fairly senior position and I say you are completely wrong. It makes not a jot of difference and no reputable company would call an employer to check if someone works there.

Why don't you pay the bill? I suspect that the harassment will then stop

![]() Yes, it'll affect my credit rating for 6 / 7 years - but - if I try to pay the card back on my salary at their high interest rates I'll be paying it off for about 40 years. I intend to not get credit in the future or keep it to a minimum. After about March my Very account will be paid off, and payday loans all paid back. I know it wasn't the most sensible thing I've done, but I accumulated debt when I was thrown out of my family home for being gay, and unemployed for 2 months. I then became depressed, and buried my head in the sand, thinking because I had work I'd be able to pay it all back. Not a mistake I intend to make again, and I feel this is the best plan for me to pay it back, without having to get into more debt. I've applied for a couple of loans for £5000 but been refused (Would have used the loan to pay back the card then simply paid the loan in the monthly instalments) |

When I first got the card it was a £500 limit but they kept putting the limit up without my consent, and because its a Vanquis card, the interest is ridiculous.

I am going to let the card default. They will pass on my debt to a collection agency + fees and then I can start paying it back. Its got out of control because of the interest.
