I'm not surprised by the result. Apart from the pound dropping, the Leave vote has been seen to have very little material effect on people's lives so far.

One element may be that that the doomsdayers were predicting that the sky would fall in the day after the referendum, this hasn't happened and now people are wondering what all the fuss was about. There is a big 'but' of course in that is unknown what life will be like for the UK once it's outside the EU and perhaps even outside the Single Market.

What do you think it will be like?

LOL if anything it has gained momentum if I can coin a phrase that isn't associated with the Labour Party

If it's outside the Single Market, I suspect worse off financially. You wouldn't have countries like Norway, Switzerland and Iceland wanting to be a part of it and even accepting freedom of movement with the EU unless it was bringing them economic benefits.

I'm afraid you could be right. It would seem the value of his house out trumps every other persons concerns about the EU.

I feel the vote to leave would be even higher

There is an element of truth about this.

The same can be said of the various apocolypic warnings on BIrd, Swine flu, CJD and others over the past years that have come to nothing.

People are beginning to not trust anything "experts" say any more, probably accounts for peoples indifference to Climate change as well.

No special powers at all, just a sense of observation. It's not 100% of course, but we know analysis has shown that the least well educated you are, the more likely you are to have voted out. It's neither totally down to intellect, nor wealth. You only have to look at the places that voted remain vs those who voted leave. The places with either a high percentage of students, or classy folk, or both, who voted remain. It's why Harrogate voted in, and Huddersfield out. Bath voted in and Basildon out.

I very much doubt any of the hardcore Brexiters on here buck the stereotype in any way.

Based on the last 2 years any thread that relies on an opinion poll should be immediately disregarded.

I think it's you who's "withering on the vine", Mr Olson Strut and I doubt there's many who disagree with me

BREXIT means LEAVE and LEAVE means BREXIT.

Keep repeating that until your mind accepts it. You'll feel much better.

Oh for goodness sake. Most of the world is outside the single market. Does Australia or Canada suffer from war and pestilence through not bejng members? No they have much higher standards of living then most EU members.

Education and intelligence are two different things, as I'm sure you know. I know of very highly "educated" people who aren't very intelligent and many non-formally educated who hold down well-paid and responsible jobs. Then there are those in a profession who didn't attend university. Most journalists are in that category.

Perhaps by "educated" you mean those who now go to "Yewny" who aren't intelligent enough to, but have been led to believe they are by Tony Blair and his government who designed the system to brainwash them into the mind-set that because they have a "degree" it makes them superior and they ought to vote to stay in the EU.

I live in Islington North, went to university and voted LEAVE My MP, Jeremy Corbyn, also went to university, but dropped out and probably voted LEAVE too.

I'd be more interested in a poll once the deal is done on whether they'd have voted to go through all of that for the deal they got.

Again, the majority of people voting Leave are 45+, and the significant majorities are aged 55 and older. These groups believe they'll be the least financially worse off.

Groups younger than 45 tell a different story:

If anything is withering on the vine, it is the EU itself, and I find it alarming that so apparently few people can understand that.

As for aurichie, it wouldn't surprise me if he came back with a complete personality change, explaining that after a period of reflection he's now the world's greatest pro-Brexit supporter. Based on his record, I would find that scary.”

Shouldn't that be a whole Mile Away? None of those EU measurements!
