Pretty certain that with IMDb help I could name thousands of Christmas films that aren't on this year. Not sure I see the point though.
And DS posters struggle's with social interaction and context continues.

Sorry? Did you mean "DS poster's struggles"?

Frozen is on Christmas Day.

But obviously with DVD, Sky, Netflix, On Demand etc, there are are so many opportunities to see a film before its terrestrial premiere it isn't really much of an event anymore.

I expect Frozen will still do well but the majority of the audience will be repeat viewers.

These days they make films from comics and video games. Then they built this entire film around a song from another film. The resulting quality is pretty much the same which explains the Rotten Tomatoes critics rating of 75% compared to IAWL's 96%. Just saying.

White Christmas is on every year but Holiday Inn is never shown anymore, for three reasons I suspect.

1. It's in black and white.
2. Most of the film doesn't actually take place at Christmas.
3. Bing Crosby in blackface.

No fear! Channel 5 to the rescue with their three daily afternoon D-movies about a woman in a festive love triangle.

ITV should take note and rest a few of there films.
How many times have they shown Bridget Jones & Love Actually now?
Can't believe ITV movie on Christmas Day is Lion King from 1994. is that the best they could do. I love the film but it is so old competing with Frozen being shown on BBC1. it is only 2 years old. ITV could have shown a more recent premiere film.

What's this obsession with how recent a film is? Yes Frozen is newer (though 3 years, not 2) but that means that a greater proportion of the potential younger audience will have already seen it and not so long ago. Yes ITV could have got a newer film but would it have been a better film than Lion King? Can't think of any obvious candidates myself.

Frozen is a poor 'big premiere' ... I can't imagine any family with kids won't have seen it before and if they haven't it's because they aren't interested.
I think the films are dreadful this year, nothing new and tv in general is pretty weak. I find it quite sad that the days of big premieres and must see Christmas tv on the terrestrial channels appears to be over. The big watch in our household is tonight's Bear Hunt and that's about it!
