Well Cain nearly hitting Kyle shouldn't surprise anyone, he hit Debbie when she was a kid.

Cain doing what he does best, it's the kid's fault for being stubborn of course...

He hit Debbie's when she was a teenager. She was hardly a beaten child. I got worse of my Dad for a whole lot less than Debbie ever did. Cain certainly did. It just says

I like Cain, but I'm sick of hearing about how he is a reformed character. He kidnaps atleast 2 people a year still. Apparently its ok though, as he only does it for his "family".

I didn't say Debbie was a beaten child, I just said that Cain once hit her. She was still fairly young, I think she was about 14.

So she once got hit when shecwas 14? Sorry, but being hit once as a teenager, not even a young child, when you're ve done something bad is not such a terrible thing - it happened to most people. Debbie would be far more damaged by being in care, IMO.

I know, there's always ready-made excuses for Cain's actions.

He could kidnap the Pope and the writers would make out like he's some sort of heroic thug.

Certainly what I'm m getting at it when I say that is that Cain has the capacity to care about someone more than himself.

Lots of parents of young childen lose control and Cain, with his temper is bound to struggle in this way. It would be pretty unbelievable if he didn' t struggle in that way. I'm not a parent but I know it's s incredibly hard, and parents are all too easily judged nowadays, with everything being regarded as abuse, as opposed to my generation and earlier when they could do pretty much anything and get away with it. These days it seems to have swung too far the other way and they' re urged, not supported. Of course characters can be as terrible as they like but as long as they don't t hurt a kid....

To be fair, I don't have to watch the episode to know raising your fists towards a child is wrong . i mean it's bad enough he didn't even acknowledge Kyle's existence or want him as a baby!

Also, what's this business with Lachlan? I'm guessing he's taking revenge against him for Andy? He is the father of his grand children after all. It's getting a bit tiring watching Cain feud with the Home Farm residents.

But it's worse than all the other terrible things that are done by ED characters?
What if he realised his mistake and doesn' t do it? Of course it's s wrong, but he might not even go through with it

I get tired of the Home Farm stuff too, but as I haven't t yet seen the story, I can' t judge it!

They are constantly talked about on here every day, its Cain who escapes the most criticism.

I'm not talking about other characters though. I'm talking about the spoilers in this particular thread .

I was just commenting on it, that's all.

N, I don't t think that's s a far comment. I' d say it's about equal, although probably Robert doesn' t get so much as an individual than as part of Robron.

I think we can agree that Ross gets the most stick, a comment which does my head in is "the bloke who hits people with a lump of wood". Nobody refers to Cain as "the bloke who kidnaps people for a hobby."

Yeah. But even still, it's frightening for a child when an adult raises their fists or is aggressive towards them and can be damaging sometimes. That's all I'm saying.

But the thing it's s one of these emotive sorts of stories in which a) the context will influence how people feel about it and b) whether he actually goes ahead with it will be vitally important. Someone stopping themselves from doing a terrible thing is different from someone actually doing it. Either way it's s a terrible thing to raise a fist to child, ( although quite believable) but amuch worse to go through with it. That' s why I'm saying it's s a bit early to judge. I think it's s incredibly hard for parents of young children. They often need the patience of a saint and goodness knows Cain's s far from that. If he can conquer his temper it could be a huge learning curve for him.

Would you say the same thing if Ross came close to hitting Moses?

Finn is going about this all wrong. He needs to find himself a new coma patient to stalk. That will certainly get Kasim jealous.

If you knew my background, you would know I' m very familiar with that.. My own father had untreated mental health problems and could be very frightening for very little reason. At the same time parents are only human, and it's s an extremely hard job. So yes, it' s far from ideal to raise your fist to a child., ,but let's s see how it plays out and what's s learned from it.

I would honestly have to put it into context I dislike Ross intensely but as with his other violence I would put into the context it was shown in.In fact, it would be more believable if we did seecRss stressed out, not coping and losing his temper but I wonder if they can't t take that risk with his character?

It did contribute to my mental health problems but my poor Dad really struggled with that and an incredibly stressful job ( being in the police) and had far worse himself as a child It was just par for the course in those days that you got hit anyway. I think it was worse living with the tension of waiting someone to explode and I suspect it would be like that living with Cain too. Jeez my neighbour was just telling me a horror story where a teacher had hit her 5 year old son on the headwith the belt for standing in the wrong place in the queue!

I have a lot of sympathy for parents though. I remember seeing a young mother in the supermarket having a complete meltdown and screaming and crying at her kids. All of the young staff were judging her while the older staff were offering help and sympathy.

TBH horrible though it is, there' s an honesty about scenes where parents struggle and lose their temper, just as their was with Laurel locking Ashley in, and Ashley hitting Sandy.
