Is anyone else hoping to get away for Christmas with Storm Barbara arriving in England. I'm a bit worried about the storm as I've due to leave Newcastle Upon Tyne for the West Midlands by train on Friday lunchtime. I'm hoping that Ticket restrictions might be lifted for Friday 23rd December just like Christmas 2014 when you could travel on any train to your destination and then there was also major storms and you where allowed to travel the day before so you could avoid the storm, otherwise it will be quite a few worrying days. National Rail say to check back for any announcements tomorrow night.
Ian.

Check the weather nearer the time as it can vary either way. If it is very windy/rainy, try and avoid as falling trees, flying debris, too much of risk.

Take care

Staying home and family are travelling to me on Saturday and no more than 30 miles so we should be ok.

Hope everyone gets to where they need to be.

I'm staying home for Xmas as I always do but my aunt and uncle are coming up from Southampton to Southport over the weekend to visit another relative so hopefully it will be okay.

If it helps, I live in the West Midlands and we have a yellow warning for high winds Friday afternoon only, from 12.00 - 1800, so even though you are travelling at lunchtime, I think you should be ok. The weather forecast for here is not too bad today and tomorrow, in fact in West Brom the sun is out and it's cold but nice.

You could check Midlands Today tonight after the 6'O Clock news, if you have Sky, obviously for me it's 101 living here, but it's in the 900's on there I would think, there's a forecast at the end of the programme which may help.

Hope you have a good journey, and a great Christmas here!

The furthest I'm planning on travelling is walking to the pub.

Well they have just about got the Piccadilly Line running normally after weeks of chaos which is great if you want to get to Heathrow to experience cabin crew and baggage handler strikes. At least Hurricane Barbara should help clear the fog.
