"Both IS and al-Qaeda have urged their followers to use vehicles as a means to attack crowds."

I've just copied & pasted that from the "BBC News website". Am I living in a completely stupid world?

It's not rocket science, I always thought if Thomas Hamilton had driven a transit van at going home time at Dunblane school instead of use guns the death-toll would have been higher.

It's not the work of geniuses. Want to attack a city with rockets or mortars but the authorities are watching your people trying to secure/buy them, then eventually some bright spark says how about hijacking civil aircraft and fly them into buildings.

Can't buy Semtex, live in a farming country? Buy fertilizer and diesel instead.

BBC is merely reporting what is already "out there"

Yes. But the BBC, et al continually give the terrorist organisations free publicity. Even something that turns out to be an accident is initially suggested it may be terrorist group activity.

If you feel that way why are you giving them more free publicity with this thread?

So why are you only "upset" with the BBC?

Don't understand the OP's point at all. Murder is murder. Normal people, whatever their religious or political beliefs, are not going to commit more murders because they are reported on the news.

"Normal people" like our government, just do it from the air or use the Saudis to drop cluster bombs on civilians.

Do you really need to ask?

Cheap political point-scoring from one of DS's resident BBC-bashers.

It is called reporting the news.

if anything i would say the BBC get criticised more than about any other outlet for NOT making knee-jerk reactions about whether something is a terrorist act and usually wait longer for official confirmation than making the sort of assumption you have suggested here

What an absurd post. Does Sky News, ITV, CNN, Fox, France 24, Rueters, all of our news media outlets not report these acts of terrorism?

Do you want such incidents as Berlin, Nice and Paris ignored?

As regards an accident being reported as a terrorist incident, you only have to look at the posts on this forum to find out how many jump to that same conclusion before knowing the full facts.

No, you are living in a country where news organisations are not controlled and censored by the government.
Other political systems are available.

Only if the world solely consists of you.

I don't get the point the OP is making. I thought the whole point of a news organisation was to report the news which the BBC is doing here as well as other countless news organisations with this story which the OP dosen't even seem to mention.

I think he's just trying to get a dig in at the BBC. I don't know who the original poster is, but some have suggested he's just one of the hardcore Beeb-bashers that pollute the place.

They're not the worst. The DM acts like the official ISIS news agency. I refuse to watch the horrific videos that they post.

LOL! Well it's an embarrassingly poor effort to bash the BBC then. Says far more about the poster than anything!

Don't see the BBC doing anything wrong at all.

What does confuse me is lately they have dropped the 'so-called' Islamic State nomenclature they used before. Now they just say IS.

That's right attack the news corporations not the sick jihadis carrying out these attacks, that will solve the problem for sure.

Yes the media love to spread the words of extremists to the nut jobs who haven't received it yet. It's also time to ban vehicles, it is the only way to keep the people safe

Not really.

There is a difference between reporting the news and sensationalising mass killings & the methods used.

Perhaps if you made clearer what your original point was, people could engage with it in a more straightforward way? Otherwise, they can only speculate.

Isn't that the tagline for when the new forum launches.
