You should just buy a crown. I always bought a whole turkey in the past and like you - the dogs had a lot of the legs. But last year I bought my first crown and I will never go back. Its cheaper for a start and all you get it that lovely breast meat. It also takes less time to cook, so less chance of drying it out.
I have bought crowns, but none left over for the mutts

We prefer to get the extra large whole turkey, that way there,s more breast meat plus the rest for the dog,s that we don't eat.

I just cannot eat the brown/pinky meat of the turkey. Legs etc

Thai green curry.

Plus the boxing day sandwich - turkey, stuffing, sliced up pigs in blankets and bread sauce all heated in the microwave and slopped in between 2 slices of buttered bread. The messiest, tastiest sandwich of the year.

Good to know you don't eat your dogs.

Has anyone ever had success making the 'moist maker' sandwich as seen in Friends episode 'The One with Ross' Sandwich'

Another poster mentioned 'slice of gravy'. I imagine that's the only way of making Ross's moist Christmas sandwich. 'Course, it won't work unless you make your gravy without the help of gravy granules.

Yum. This ^ plus bubble and squeak and sausage meat and stuffing balls. Boxing Day dinner is the best of the year. Christmas dinner is Ok but its the left overs that I really look forward to
Not forgetting the cold roast potatoes! I cook about four times as many as we need, just so there are loads left.
