hardly a family comedy for christmas is it, bad language, obvious inuendo, i bet kids watch it as well.....seen morecambe and wise so many times (ITV tonight) but its still funnier.
If you listen carefully, only Mrs Brown is allowed to swear. If all of the characters were swearing, particularly the younger ones, you could accuse it of being a "vulgar" sitcom but it's quite clever in allowing only the elderly matriarch figure to do so.

I thought tonight was very poor. Really let down by terrible acting across the board and unbelievable situations. Plus I'm so fed up with the audience going "ohhhhh"

I think it was an enjoyable enough episode. The Marijuana stuff was good.

My problem was they tried to cram too much into one episode. Grandad coming back from hospital despite us not knowing why he went, Wash & Blow burning down for whatever reason, Cathy's boyfriend and Bono getting bullied at school. They could have spread it out over a few episodes if Brendan was willing to write a series.

We were led to believe in the Christmas episode that Grandad had a serious condition which maybe life threatening. And yet he returns home apparently fine without much worry and is given medical marijuana.

Still good to see Hillary back - even for just one scene. Annette Curtain was funny too.

In the previous episode, Grandad's GP is worried by his syptoms and arranges for him to have a brain scan but it's obvious that comes back clear and they found something else wrong with him. The implication is that a couple of weeks have passed at least since the first episode as the Christmas decorations are no longer up.

I have to agree the acting in MBBs is very poor and wooden. O'Carroll is ok but the rest are very very amateurish.

Using professional actors alongside Brendan would make it a very different type of programme ; a much more smooth and polished effort and typical BBC sitcom fare.....would that type of show even be as popular though?

They all swear. There isn't a limit from BBC Comedy on the production of how many swears they can have. Only that c*** is off limits and MF MUST be justified and signed off by Charlotte Moore.
Regularly hear the other casts members swear...
Folks being outraged by swearing are antique and need to get back to the obvious 60's they came from!

The New Year's Day episode was a vast improvement on the Christmas Day one.

You never hear any of the other characters use the 'F' word, only Mrs Brown uses it.....I don't think we've ever heard the likes of Buster, Maria or Mark use a single swear word in five years on the show and others such as Dermot very rarely.

I'm sure the priest did in the Christmas episode.

Cathy's said "**** it" more than once and it's been said by others when they keep in the bloopers.

You do get the occasional use of '****' from one of the other cast members (normally Damien) but yes, Mrs Brown is normally the foul mouthed member of the family.

Maria swore in the live episode, saying f*** sake!

Annette Curtain was just fabulous and them all getting high off the brownies was ace!

They have definitely used the 'F' word with an 'e' on odd occasions but that's hardly considered swearing at all in Ireland : it was used all the time in Father Ted for example which wasn't known for being a sitcom with bad language. There was even a 'Fexit' headline in the newspaper Agnes was reading in the live episode.

if the annette curtain joke was the funniest thing mrs b has to offer..... its time to give up.

it was as predictable as a 'knock knock whos there doctor' joke. its old, unimaginative, predictable and not funny.

ps..... theres even a forum member 'annette curtain'.. here.

Where did I say it was the funniest moment in the show?

Elsewhere, the Christmas Day edition of Mrs Brown was the second most watched programme on the night: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/c...atings-9559275

If anyone doesn't already know how the cast are related: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-...boys-related-5

watched the first episode and barely raised a smile apart from the xmas trees and his son calling him grandad. The second i got very bored with and switched off. Its like watching a repeat.
Cant see this prog being repeated in twenty years and treated as a top comedy.

Yes, all this stuff happens so quickly that its hardly a story at all. The whole cast just end up feeding Brendan one liners for his comedy. The second episode was better than the first, but for me it was mostly going through the motions. Hope for better next year.

One question though as been bugging me. At the sing along at the end who was the fourth girl there was Betty Kathy Maria who was the other female?
A bit late but anyway - I believe it's the woman that works in Wash & Blow with Rory and Dino.
