She's supposed to hand out the gongs tomorrow, isn't she? Or have the 'New Year' Honours actually been dished out in late-December?

They are announced today and then they are given out later next year.

Regarding tomorrow:
“The Queen is continuing to recover from her heavy cold and is still in the residence of Sandringham. We probably will not know what is happening until the morning.”

Be interesting to see if she attends church tomorrow morning

Charles or Andrew or Princess Michael will step-in. Common practice for years.

That's unfair.

She waves a bit and has to eat world class meals at dinner parties.
And has to be polite while boring and insufferable politicians and dignitaries drone on at her. It can't be easy always having to bite your tongue. I've been at a couple of events where she has been present and I'd hate to have to listen to all of those speeches every day without once appearing to yawn or fall asleep.

Will any of you cry when the Queen dies? I never cry but I might if she passes.

'If'? Makes her sound potentially immortal.

Out of all the well known ones who have died this year The Queen dying will upset me the least.

There was a huge turnout for her Father's funeral, and for Diana's.

"Grown men were seen weeping in the streets" was reported both times.

It will happen again.

She WILL be Queen. The wife of the King is Queen, whether the people like it or not. I know someone who hates her with a passion and wouldn't cross the street to see her. Huge Diana fan still.
She will Queen consort but it will be up the government if she gets that title They may opt for her to be referred to as Princess Camilla rather than Queen Camilla.

Once Charles is king William and Kate become Prince and Princess of Wales but she will be known as Princess Catherine.

Camilla's title will be whatever Charlie demands. They've been moving their precious goal posts on his account for quite some time.

Then you are blinkered
Fair enough. I know I'm not but if the Royalists see anyone who challenges the "she works so hard" lie as "blinkered" then consider me well and truely blinkered and I couldn't care less about that label. Show me some evidence of the Queen working in a menial job or sending off her CV to apply for a job well below her qualification level just so she can get some money in and make ends meet. Show me some proof of her working shifts and doing mandatory overtime or having to struggle to scrape the hours in on a zero hours contract just to feed her family.

The truth is she hasn't done any of that. Pretending to be interested in stupid conversations at garden parties and meeting politicians you don't agree with is NOT work. Not by any stretch of the imagination is that a hard job. People who work in customer service have to put up with stupid conversations all day and they smile and get on with it. Would you praise them as being a bastion of society? No of course not because you haven't been brainwashed to accept that.

If she died today, they might sit on it till tomorrow morning, so as not to dampen the New Year celebrations. That's just hypothetical, though.

I'm rather puzzled about why you expect any country's head of state to do a menial job or anything else you mention..

Either way 2017 will be the "year of mourning" so it will be an even bigger write off than 2016.

Why and if it were how would that affect us as anti-Monarchists?
You give them far too much power over you if that's how you think.
