Hopefully someone won't get their wires crossed, otherwise we may end up with Killer Queen instead of the National Anthem.

Do you want them beheaded? You know, there's people I don't like, but I don't wish death on them. Is there anybody else you want dead?

No she won't. The Queen, unlike you, has the benefit of knowing that birth name is not the same as a regnal name.

oh god I hope not, Star Trek Voyager being cancelled due to Princess Diana was bad enough.

If we are going to continue with the monarchy after her death, let it be a "The King is Dead, Long Live The King" situation, she dies, her son takes the crown with minimum fuss, and we are not all asked to pretend to care about any of them.

Different world - there are so many channels now and most would continue - they're largely automated anyway so it would be a huge task to take off the pre-prepared output, and what on earth would they replace it with?

but alot of those channels are rubbish, the channels I actually watch BBC One, BBC Two would almost certainly pull their scheulde, even Channel 5 would make some changes.

I can't see Sky getting effected as people pay for that same obviously goes for streaming services.

I can't really think of a channel I watch that will shut down I'm done with BBC until Doctor Who comes back on and done with ITV until (If) WOS Wrestling gets commissioned.

I'm sure many pages back in this thread, someone posted a link from one of the newspapers about the codename 'London Bridge' scenario and what would happen, and it said that Beeb 1 would go onto mainly news coverage, no soaps, no comedy. This scenario apparently runs for about 12 days and I'm sure the Beeb have been practising this behind the scenes. The link was quite an interesting read.

the Queen is an old woman, the coverage of her death will not take 12 days.

It will be 12 days of "She dead, she still dead, she still dead, she still dead" mixed in with "the elderly monarch died at *insert location*" no one is going to be that shocked by it, at this point it is highly unlikely she die of anything other than age related reasons.

I couldn't find the original article but I have found this from the Business Insider which also says 12 days.

Well, quite. I quite like the Queen, and I can imagine there being a couple of days of wall-to-wall TV coverage when she does eventually pass away, but life will go on for everyone and things will quickly return to normal. A "forced" media mourning period would only serve to damage the monarchy in a modern society where we understand the brief nature of life.

The plans for all royal deaths are codenamed after a bridge. The Queen Mother was Tay Bridge, the Duke of Edinburgh is Forth Bridge and Prince Charles in Menai Bridge.

People bemoaning the fact that the queen death, when it happens, will interfere with their telly watching. How on earth will they cope.

What about William, George and Charlotte, which bridges have they got?

Presumably it will not affect Netflix viewing, so easy to watch those shows if you so wanted.

You presume unwisely there. I know that a different regnal name is an option and there is precedent for such a decision. That it has been done before does not preclude the queen from feeling hurt at her and her husband's choice of name not being taken forward as King.

They would be stupid to go for such an ott level of deferential coverage as this would damage the support of the general population towards the monarchy if the country was effectively told you must grieve and normal life will in no way be allowed to continue.

You are aware he was christened with four names, aren't you? Charles Philip Arthur George-with that eventuality in mind?

Even when I'm out, and I see a funeral for somebody who I've never known, I'd still feel a bit sad. I'd feel that way because it's somebody's Mother/Granny or even worse Wife or Daughter. I know what it's like to bury a relative, and I know the pain death causes. It takes a cold hearted person not to have ANY feelings when it comes to a death for a person unknown.

I do think she is OK at the moment.

But this has made me think if she did die over Christmas would they keep quiet about it and lie and say she died at a later date?

As Christmas is seen as the biggest holiday of the year and is generally a seen as a fun time they may not want to bring the country down plus every year after it would be remembered The Queen died at Christmas.

So if she died for example Dec 23 would they hold off and say she died Jan 3rd or something?

Too many people would know about it for that to happen.
