Hers is a largely ceremonial role and she plays no part IN government. She is above politics and cannot change or influence the actions of the government.

Yes I know how the system works. But it is a system she heads-up, albeit ceremonially. So I was confused as to why you took issue with someone pointing out something factually correct.

I bet she purred longer and louder when the clown was forced to resign after the EU referendum...and I say that as someone who voted FOR Scottish Independence.

Serves him right for being a complete clown and being so utterly clueless and indiscreet. Wasn't fit to clean out the cat's litter tray, let alone run the country.

Those are my thoughts - not necessarily those of the Queen, by the way!

He's her fifth cousin twice removed or second cousin five times removed or something like that. They are related

Have you really? Because I haven't. Most of the Queen's reported views have come from third parties who blabbed to others and then ultimately the press.
Ihaven't heard her speak out either. That's good - the last thing we need is another politician.

I don't envy her either. Abolishing the monarchy would mean we never had to inflict that life on anyone ever again.
Indeed a point I made a few pages back. It should not be acceptable to as good as ordain the lives of unborn children in this way.

Is it my imagination or does William not look and sound all that keen about his fate?

It's all quite pagan, really. "We will sacrifice this child's liberty and make her a lifelong servant of 'The Nation' in order that the Gods will look favourably on our tourist industry..."

There are lots of things if we were starting from scratch we'd probably do differently like making time decimal. But there'd be little reward for the effort. Similar with the monarchy. I get it's outdated and archaic and all the rest of it, but I can't see the point in bothering to change it.

It is a ceremonial role in a constitutional system in which she is unable to offer opinions in public or to have a vote or exercise any other form of influence. She must remain impartial. Speaking out either in favour or against government policy would compromise that impartiality.

There is no point in accusing her of "heading up" anything over which she has no control or influence.
