Yes I know how the system works. But it is a system she heads-up, albeit ceremonially. So I was confused as to why you took issue with someone pointing out something factually correct.

He's her fifth cousin twice removed or second cousin five times removed or something like that. They are related

Ihaven't heard her speak out either. That's good - the last thing we need is another politician.

Indeed a point I made a few pages back. It should not be acceptable to as good as ordain the lives of unborn children in this way.

Is it my imagination or does William not look and sound all that keen about his fate?

It's all quite pagan, really. "We will sacrifice this child's liberty and make her a lifelong servant of 'The Nation' in order that the Gods will look favourably on our tourist industry..."

There are lots of things if we were starting from scratch we'd probably do differently like making time decimal. But there'd be little reward for the effort. Similar with the monarchy. I get it's outdated and archaic and all the rest of it, but I can't see the point in bothering to change it.

It is a ceremonial role in a constitutional system in which she is unable to offer opinions in public or to have a vote or exercise any other form of influence. She must remain impartial. Speaking out either in favour or against government policy would compromise that impartiality.

There is no point in accusing her of "heading up" anything over which she has no control or influence.

Is there no end to this tedious drivel? Normally, how many times would she have been seen in public over the Christmas period? She's unwell and she's a very old woman FFS! .

Sorry if someone has answered this, but can't find the info anywhere.
Some papers said there'd be '12 days national mourning' when she croaks.

That's surely not 12 days off is it??

It'd be great though - I'd be straight online to book a break in the canaries.

Yes and obviously emergency services and NHS would need to continue.
What about schools? Government jobs etc?

No - one at most. Probably on the day of the funeral.

No, of course it isn't. At most it seems to be a guess at the likely period between the date of death and the funeral. We'll be working inbetween.

What is "National Mourning' anyway what are we all supposed to do sit around weeping over it.

Let's be honest most won't care that much if at all even the ones who do 12 Days is a bit to much.

That's all?? Well that's a cheek. All the sycophantic grovelling should be rewarded with more than that

Hope they will all be Mondays or Fridays so we can make a long weekend of it.

Having said that, a DIY day midweek is often effective as you know you only have a day.

I think she has one of those lingering coughs and does not want to have a coughing fit in the middle of a sermon.

Maybe best pick a day when not much is on TV anyway.

Not that it will bother me anyway as I don't watch any channel that will have shows canceled.

If she pegs out during a big sporting event I doubt fans will be happy.

Thereby making the sermon vaguely more interesting to the congregation.
They'd all be straining to hear the Queen coughing.

Well quite.

When I lived in England for four years, all it took was a light snow flurry and the supermarket shelves were swept entirely clean of bread and milk!

Wouldn't have been very fresh 12 Days later.

Unless you buy long life which tastes awful.
