To think, they've just printed all those £5 notes.
What's that got to do with anything?

Notes and coins continue in circulation until they are worn out. Prior to decimalisation we had coins still in use with Queen Victoria on them.

They seem to be letting us down gently for the news one of them is croaking

Plenty of doctors etc readily available in London, not so many if any around Sandringham. They parked George V1 there to die

Breaking news: LakieLady has a cold and has called off her planned trip to Sainsburys.
Get well soon and may angels speed you to Sainsburys Ma'am.

Have no fear, there will be - they will be falling over themselves to attend
I think that Phillip wore himself out appearing on the recent Phillip Schofield TV show

Yes perhaps, and I apologise to the poster if this was the case. We did however have a discussion on these boards once on how long it would take to withdraw all the notes and coins after the Queen's reign ends, so there are clearly some people who think this would actually happen.

I wish HM well and am sure she will see many more of us out yet.

It's going to be such an enormous event when she dies. Blanket coverage for days, all the major TV channels will stop normal programming. Everyone will feel it, whether you're a monarchist or republican. I don't think it's her time just yet, they seem a hardy bunch.
eh, how? don't generalise and include ''everyone''. i managed to ignore most of the grief porn after dirty Diana died, you can if you try.

You have to wonder if 2016 has got one last big sting left in its tail.....

The Queen sneezes and the nation holds its breath.

I'm going to go for an American President, possibly on Boxing Day, maybe Carter or the first Bush, both are 92. Why? Because two former US Presidents have passed on Boxing Day in recent years - Harry S Truman in 1972 and then Gerald Ford in 2006. I notice that quite a few of our own Monarch's seem to depart in the early part of the year, January and February.

It has just been announced that the Queen has cancelled her train journey to Balmoral as she is feeling unwell , no panic according spokesperson , get well soon your majesty , try not to spoil Christmas
Think she could have same cold as I have, so staying at home is best policy. Get well Ma'am, and best wishes for your recovery.

Maybe this is a cover cause there was a potential threat too the royal family so its reported they have colds? This may only revealed if they do in a few months. Im only guessing. Why would the police introduce road closures around buck house straight away? I would guess if true all the royals will be spending xmas at buck house if they are not there already. Contain protection in one area more cost effective. They could have colds.

Quite a few people seem to be laid low this winter. The symptoms seem to be more severe this year as well.

While i have no time for the Royal family, I hope they both get well soon, but now surly is the time for her to give up and disband the monarchy?

One of our kings was hastened on his way to fit in with the newspaper deadlines
I think it was George V
