Its going to be a truly sad day when we finally lose her. I can see a whole week of national mourning being declared and on the day of the funeral all shops etc being asked to close out of respect. It will be on a bigger scale than Diane's passing for sure. We have never known the country without the Queen leading it.

I don't think it will be bigger than the reaction to Diana dying. That was such a shock but an elderly person dying is to be expected

It won't have the shock factor but it will be a State Funeral which will be huge. So it will be big in a different way.

The Queen has a cold!

In fact, it's so bad, that she flown to Norfolk instead of getting the train.

I bet those who use Southern Trains would have loved that option?

It tends to be the same people who like to sneer about some of the Queen's ancestors being foreign but some how think they are not being racist if you call them out for it.
I think it's more pointing out the irony of the loyalist, proud-to-be-British brigade venerating a family that is largely German than racism, tbf.

It could indeed. Change the travel and location arrangements and information at short notice to confuse the enemy. Classic protection tactics. And if she really is staying at Buck Pal it would explain the extra security and road closures around the palace. Or that may simply be deflection tactics, who knows, but I like it!
The extra security is connected with the events in Germany but the Met had wanted the surrounding roads closed during Changing of the Guard times for some time it just hadn't been implemented yet, it has now been brought forward and not before time really .

How long does your family have to be in the UK and how many generations need to be born here before you are deemed British ? I mean the Queen herself is the 32nd great granddaughter of King Alfred and her mothers side were British and it is what 308 years since a German succeeded the throne.

All security and train was waiting for her and wernt stood down. Then all of a sudden they both got a cold. It was a security threat so made up story saying they both had colds. Some may believe it but some are not stupid.

Merry Christmas too the royals

For anybody to reach their 90's is a fantastic achievement, but, if I'm being honest, I find Elizabeth I a far more interesting character (I've read a bit about her). In fact, I just find the modern-day Royal Family extremely boring, especially when you compare them to the Monarchs of the past; and when I say 'past' I'm thinking of the period from the around the time of the English Civil War and earlier.

How many generations of a family have to be born in the UK before they can be considered British? Only there's a 3rd generation Pakistani family living near me, Personally I regard them as British, but according to your logic they can still be called Pakistani.

They are a bit dull these days, get married, have babies, get divorced, die. They don't behead each other any more or lock their nephews in towers. They're just not trying to entertain us anymore!

If she has picked up the cold bug going round that some of my family have then I don't blame her, they are feeling bloody rough and they are mostly young so at 90 it would take it out of you
