And one less M.P. if the Conservatives take the seat,

The Opposition is supposed to gain seats between general elections.

If Labour lose significantly, not sure what that would be in numbers, but if they did, how likely do you think it would be that Corbyn would step aside? Any chance? I think we need an effective opposition which we do not have at the moment, surely if he really cares about social inequality etc then he must know that Labour need a leader that can win an election?”

No. He doesn't care about winning seats, or being PM. And, his MPs have tried everything to get rid of him.

This may however crystallise many of the issues. Corbyn on Brexit, and immigration are unlikely to play with local voters, and his attempts to attract Greens, and disarm the country, won't play where the workforce man Sellafield and Barrow.

Thats an argument for all but half a dozen Labour MPs going. And anyone that can win a seat where many the workers build the next deterrent, isn't going to be a Corbyn fan.

Agreed, the Tory majority would go back up to 12 should they take the seat.

I could also see this Tory Gain as bad news for the Libdems for it would grind their advances to a halt.

And her working majority would go back to eighteen.

Labour would be in a better position in Copeland if Corbyn's friends in terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollay could vote there.

The voters of Copeland, as elsewhere in the north of England, have been let down by successive Labour and Tory-led governments and the choice is like choosing between steaming dog poo and festering fox poo.

The voters deserve better than the neglect of the two main parties and I sincerely hope that the voters in the Copeland constituency send a big FU message to Tories and Labour (and I don't care if the victors are UKIP, Lib Dems, Greens, etc.) otherwise more of the same neglect will surely follow.

To be fair I've never heard of the place either. The only Copeland I've ever heard of was the drummer for the Police

It is a waste processing plant, I don't think they build any deterrents there.

The Trident Successor subs will be built at BAE in Barrow in Furness which is also in the Copeland constituency.

It's actually in Barrow and Furness constituency, where John Woodcock is the MP.

He's also Labour, so with the Dear Leader's stance on nukes, he'll be lucky to keep his seat at the next GE.

Woops. You are right. Still I bet a lot of the workforce and supply chain are in Copeland.

You are clueless.

This thread shows the absolute ignorance of the majority of the DS politics forum. You should be ashamed.

Please enlighten us with your wisdom so that we may see where we are going wrong.

Utter nonsense. Barrow in Furness is a constituency in its own right as is Copeland.

Following boundary changes in 2009 the constituency covers the area of Copeland Borough Council plus the wards of Keswick, Crummock, Dalton and Derwent Valley in Allerdale.

Neither had I, but the main towns in the constituency are fairly well-known: Whitehaven and Keswick.
