He's a great character, although I'm not sure that were supposed to either love him or loathe him. The problem is the the writing for him is rather inconsistent and nothing that he's been through seems to bother him. He really should be haunted regularly by some of the things he's done or that have happened in the past but no, we don't get any of that, it's all regularly ruled off and start again, new paragraph, capital letter.
Mind you, the same should apply to Gail and Sarah too. Their pasts should have shaped them but once each wave of water is under the bridge, everything is suddenly calm again. Even Gail is over Michael's death rather quickly and as for Sarah who was permanently freaked out over Callum's killing, it's like now Kylie's dead and Clayton's banged up, everything that happened is irrelevant and forgotten, even if they did stitch up Sarah's best friend's dead Dad as the culprit.
