New characters who bring something fresh and perhaps a little more colour and spice than many of the current cast.
Better story execution than we've seen in recent times.
The return of one or two strong characters; Kat, Janine, David would be my picks.

Carmel and Shaquil to be bumped off by a serial killer.
Lauren to get a new wardrobe and dump Steven.

The continuation of the current style and feel of story-lining without reverting to the 'stunt' episodes and character destruction for sake of plot.
More thought provoking storylines like we have with Phil's Alcoholism, Jay's Sex offender Status, Lee's Depression and Dot's AMD storyline.
A few more departures on top of Ronnie, Roxy, Lee and Babe to get the cast down in size as I think the smaller cast already has shown improvement.
Possible inclusion of a couple more regulars (make Derek one of them) but no major familiy introductions as we currently have a great cast of characters.
More thought provoking storylines like we have with Phil's Alcoholism, Jay's Sex offender Status, Lee's Depression and Dot's AMD storyline.
