I'm sure the likes of Ian, Sharon and Patrick wouldn't mind if Dot joined them for Christmas dinner. They probably just assumed she'd have lunch with her family members. Sadly Ronnie and Jack just use her as a babysitter and Abis too daft to notice how lonely Dot is.

She better pick a good choice previous years haven't been kind to her at Christmas. I think she should go to the Hubbards this year they seem a safe option.

Why would anyone want that evil homophobic serial killer in there house? Forget Babe, Babe hasn't even killed anyone.

She won't ask because she is proud and wants somebody else to want her with them off their own back, not out of pity.

Of course they all would want her but I guess they've all just assumed she'll be at somebody elses, especially as she has a large extended family. Problem is, they are disjointed so probably haven't asked each other. So Jack and Ronnie might think she'll be with Granddaughter Abi, or Bex, they think the same re Jack.

I think it is very realistic. Hand on heart, how many of us have checked what are elderly, perhaps widowed extended relations or neighbours are doing on Xmas Day? Or even younger people, including friends, who are maybe divorced, with shared custody so they can't see their kids and their parents have passed on?

Everybody does tend to think it is a day for family only and everybody will have family to go to but some don't and are very lonely.

Seeing as all us DS rabble are coming to yours for Crimbo dinner, I think you might want to rethink that invitation to poor Dot.

really old people seem to like to wallow... my gran is 92 now, and she used to be the cheeriest and nicest person in the world. These days, although having no proper medical issues as such and having a wide range of family and friends visit her constantly she has turned into the most miserable person in the world over the last five years... It is driving everyone mental

Because it's nice to be asked. Unfortunately many people do get overlooked at Christmas.

I imagine she's too proud. I think she realised her 'invite' to Tanya's was a last-second serve on Abi's part to make her feel included. To be fair, I wouldn't want to invite myself to someone's without being asked

Exactly, neither would I.

Aside from pride, you'd worry you were imposing and spoing their day as they'd only said yes to be polite.

Totally irrelevant but was EE on every single Christmas after 1986? Or did some years go without an episode?

perhaps shes just sick of putting up with idiots in her 92nd year, i do think the older you get you just cant be bothered with all the mindless crap you've had to endure over the years & from experience I've noticed they get more outspoken and opinionated and rather tactless in their approach to but it makes me laugh and i think good on ya

it doesn't bother me one bit, they have lived through some horrendous years that most young people will never ever comprehend. i have so much respect for our oldies and i love em, miserable or not, we are a mollie coddled generation whether we will admit to it or not.

Maybe like a lot of people she can't be bothered with all the over-hype and exaggeration and would rather her own company. It's only another day.
Maybe she's Jewish.

The trouble at her age is that most of the people you've loved and would want to spend time with are dead. Yes there are people that feel obliged to spend time with you but there are no shared memories of good times and bad. There are only so many times that you can start again. I think she should be with Patrick over the holiday. At least they have shared memories of Jim.

Atleast Abi invited her to Tanya's. Dot is just too stubborn to accept any invites or help. Ronnie and Jack are too wrapped up being selfish.

As a young woman she often used to visit 10 Rillington Place to have a good old natter with Reg.

He really helped Dot to hone her killing technique - which often includes offering her unfortunate victims 'a nice cup of tea'.
