Very surprised Gregs non rumba was first!
Also surprising to see more of Claudia and AJs dances in all the lists than Louise and Kevins. Claudia really should have been a finalist.

I think the phrase two horse race comes to mind that said RIndy's jive was more deserving than Claudia's. but no one seemed to remember it. Although it was better than Ed's - just.

It wasn't a great year for them and it certainly made an impact unlike many others. I suspect a lot of people like me are bored by most rhumbas and there was no one like a Rachel Stevens or Kara Tointon who might have done it more traditionally and still wowed. Also it has to be said Greg did evote more than Louise - he out contemptowafted Louise by a country mile and SHE was supposed to the performer here.

Also coming back to point of the second of sport outperforming performers I too think Claudia should have made the final ahead of her too but people like my mum who voted for Louise would argue that if the public's free to vote for Ed than she's free to vote how she sees fit too. In the end of the public wanted what it wanted and it wasn't Claudia - it's a shame but you're a fool if you let it get to you. As a body the SCD voting public made stupider decisions like keeping bloody Widdy in almost to the quarters.

Ok re: Greg's rhumba I've going to quote this from Marianka Swain's blog for 'The Dancing Times' entitled Strictly Speaking. This lady is a social dancer so she does know what she speaks of when it comes to dance content:

"I was bracing myself after Greg’s cha cha – this had dance disaaaaahster written all over it. But kudos to Natalie for smart cover-ups (and really, Craig, are we pretending she’s the first pro to ever do that? SERIOUSLY?), and I actually enjoyed watching Greg. Yes, it needed far more basic rumba content, and the prop vase had more hip action, but he performed the hell out of it – actual storytelling through movement. Some jagged transitions and a bit too much dashing about, but definite improvements: the odd lyrical line, better timing, more secure partnering, and oddly touching."

Thankyou jiroos for this wonderful thread and the effort you have put in. I tend to replay Danny and Oti's dances still as they have stuck in my mind the most but there were others I really enjoyed too. I just re-enjoyed all the salsa's and Judge Rinder's foxtrot.
It was a welcome break from hoovering! I will save Daisy and Laura for after I've done the mopping and need another teabreak. Thankyou and Happy Christmas.

Thank jroos for creating this thread nice to see a variety of winners, it was nice going back through the dances and I still watch all of Danny's dances and some of Claudia's dances. For me it has been the best series yet.

Hiya jroos -

I also think I was the fool who couldn't quite remember my alphabet and put paso in the wrong place in the list. Didn't help was retrospectively adding it.

Thank you for all your work on this - it's very interesting even if I think the Claudia loyalists are looking at some of her work with rose-tinted glasses on atlhough some is deserving - I think the Louise loyalists are guilty of this too but then AT aside I never really got Louise.
You are welcome kat!

BIB: it wasn't you...

Delighted to see Gio and Laura winning for their spooky Halloween Ballroom Tango. It's a great result, especially in a year when the Tango turned into Dance of Doom for so many contestants.

Thanks again jiroos for all your work crunching the numbers.

I wonder if the main DS site would make a news story out of this? It's a nice feel good story for the end of the Strictly season after all - and you have done all the work for them!

All the links I have been sending are directly from Youtube...am not presuming anything so I don't fully get your point...sorry
My point is you very bluntly refused to post a list without any thought for why people might be asking you to do so - my work server blocks access to Youtube so I can't click on the links and therefore had no idea who the winners were for each category as all you did was post links rather than the names of the couples with a link after. I get that it creates suspense and is more fun than just a list, but it's not as accessible for everyone.

I see you've posted the list now, so thank you, but I'm not sure why you couldn't simply have said in the first place that you wanted to do the countdown that way but would post a list at the end in case people preferred to view it that way. I just found your response to those asking you to do a list a little bit abrasive and unnecessary and it spoilt my enjoyment of learning the results a bit as a consequence.

As jiroos started the thread, it was up to them how they did the results reveal.

I personally thought it was a brilliant way of doing things and jiroos put in the effort to post the results that way. Seems somewhat churlish to complain about something someone is doing out of the goodness of their heart.

I understand it was up to them, I was just making a point that I was surprised that a reasoned request for a list in addition to the way it was already being done was met with what I felt was an unnecessarily brusque response.

All I wanted was to enjoy the results of jiroos efforts, I don't think asking for the results to be posted in a format that is accessible to everyone was an unreasonable request. i didn't demand that they stop posting the links, I only asked for an additional list and explained why!

Thank you very much for all your votes.

Before the results are revealed, a little bit of admin

Having sifted through all the ballots, we ended up with 36 perfect entries which have gone on to make up the final results. Ballots containing any ties, "none's", "don't knows" or non-existent Anton & Lesley Rumbas() were disqualified.

I shall reveal the results piecemeal just to "break it up a bit" and also allow for any comments and/or reaction to particular results. One all are revealed, I shall round up with a full and comprehensive list of the winners.

So, without any further ado, the results of "The Dances of Series 14" are as follows:
The very first post on the thread. My emphasis.

My point is you very bluntly refused to post a list without any thought for why people might be asking you to do so - my work server blocks access to Youtube so I can't click on the links and therefore had no idea who the winners were for each category as all you did was post links rather than the names of the couples with a link after. Does your work server also block text?

The very first post on this thread explained that a full list would be provided once the results had been revealed in the - IMO - absolutely brilliant way chosen by the OP.

Therefore, I found your demand for a list far more abrasive and impatient than anything said by the OP.

You could, of course, ask your line manager to adjudicate on this disagreement, given that you were accessing the results at work.

OP, thank you very much for all your hard work and for the wonderfully innovative way you revealed the results. I haven't been able to view all of the links because I haven't had time since I got home from work (although, if I'd been having a sneaky peek at the thread in work, I'd have seen the list of results at around 3pm). The links will be a wonderful treat over the next few days.

Thank you again!

Thank you for this thread, I've really enjoyed re-living some very special moments of the series.
When you take into account which weeks some of the winning routines were performed, it has to have been the best year for talent.
There are one or two surprises (e.g Daisy/Aljaz's VW not being a contender) but on the whole it sums up a very special year for Strictly.

My very blunt refusal (as you put it) was generated by the "abrasive and unnecessary" following request:

Could you not just have posted a list?
which in turn generated the following response from a fellow Fmer - obviously for a reason...

No pleasing some people!
Unlike Pam Kerr, you made it very clear why you would like a list - so I object to you bearing false witness and acting like you know why she was asking - you don't - you are making a mere assumption. Talking of assumptions, please do not accuse me of not having "any thought for why people might be asking you to do so" - you don't have the first idea of what did or did not go through my mind so, once again, I object to that comment.

BIB: if you had bothered to read my OP, you wouldn't have wasted your time typing this...

You "found my response to those asking..." If you are going to make a point, then make it truthfully. ONE person, at that point, asked - and did so abrasively and rudely - hence why she got an appropriate response back.

As jiroos started the thread, it was up to them how they did the results reveal.

I personally thought it was a brilliant way of doing things and jiroos put in the effort to post the results that way. Seems somewhat churlish to complain about something someone is doing out of the goodness of their heart.

You don't know what you are talking about:

Request 1 - Pam Kerr

Could you not just have posted a list?
Response 1

Request 2 - Mystical123

Please can you post a list as well as all the Youtube links - I am trying to read this in work and cannot access the videos! Please don't presume everyone has time or firewall access to click on the links!
Response 2

All the links I have been sending are directly from Youtube...am not presuming anything so I don't fully get your point...sorry
I was, admittedly, abrasive to Pam Kerr because of the abrasive way in which I was approached. You were also quite nasty but telling me I am presuming but I don't feel that my response to you was inappropriate.
