Does anyone know why he is so angry with corrie? I get he was asked to play out a story which he didn't want to and then was axed but who was rude to him? Actors? Producers? Fans? And surely most of who was there are probably gone now anyway! Also he should be killed off if he really won't return so that David's sister can join the show with his step mum and possibly have a relationship with Nick

Eh?

Why would Nick have a relationship with his ex step dads wife? He is with Leanne anyways!

Also where has he said about people being rude?

Thought he was happy with his new cheese career

David's 'sister' will be about 10 years old ...

I know nothing of people being rude to him.

The production team wanted to basically turn Martin into a paedophile, even though he had been on the show for 20 years and had no grounding in the character that Sean had built over those years. He refused to do the story and was axed. I wouldn't blame him for being annoyed.

He seems to be quite happy with his cheese and catering business. He seemed really nice on Who's Doing The Dishes recently....

I did like Robyn it's a shame we didn't see much of her on-screen before Martin and Robyn left.

Where has this come from? Have you got a link to something which will explain where you got the idea that Sean is angry with Corrie?

And he would do well not to return anyway, god knows what the current production team would have in store for Martin.

He can forget about being a nurse as he'd be required to work on the street. His life over the past 10 years in Liverpool would be forgotten, and the writers would probably completely undo it and make out Martin has been living rough in all that time (contradicting the times David has gone to see him). Martin would then move into the Platts TARDIS house and probably indulge in an affair with a street resident. And his daughter will be another gobby, unlikeable brat.

Sean has spoken fondly about the show, but isn't interested in returning. He has moved on with his life and seems to be doing well for himself. Time to move on.

Well if that is the reason Sean left Corrie I don't blame him one bit!
Surely though now would be a great time to bring Martin back.
People like him are really needed in Corrie.

At the time, it was in the news that Sean didn't like what they were doing to Martin and preferred to walk rather than play him like that. The upthemselves Corrie producers more or less said "walk", probably thinking he wouldn't...

I honestly think they should kill Martin offscreen because him and David (and Sarah to an extent) use to be really close up until his departure, I find it unrealistic that neither Sarah or David have had visits from Martin in over a decade.

And also it holds gail back having an ex who is still alive. He said he won't go back so time to ditch him and make an impact.

I would tend to agree with you Gracie and agree that it's preposterous that Martin has barely been mentioned for the last 10 years.

The problem is, the Platts need a serious period of no deaths as it's beyond ridiculous now, with them losing Kylie and Michael this year to add to their death list.

Maybe the production team could slowly build towards Martin's death sometime towards 2019 giving all of the Platts time for a good rest from misery and bereavement.

I'd watched Corrie all my life but I went off it when the odious Battersby's arrived. I loathed them, and could see the direction Corrie was going to be taking having a family of yobs in the street. It's never been the same since to me - though that of course, is only my opinon! I dipped in a bit in 2004 because of the Todd and Karl storyline (curious to see how they did their first gay storyline) but not really since then.

I don't know who half the cast are now, When I watched the tribute to Hilda I had no idea who that girl was with Chesney (when I last had a look at Corrie he was about 10) nor that Asian lady, whose name I've forgotten.

I was watching Corrie when Martin and Gail together in 1989 (it was wonderful around then!), had Demon, got married, etc, and I could well understand why Sean was not happy to have Martin suddenly get the hots for a 16 year old girl who was around the same age as his daughter. But it didn't really surprise me, either, cos it's what Corrie would have done by then.

As someone said, if Martin ever went back, heaven knows what they'd come up with for him!

I do remember when Sarah was going to marry Jason and I saw an episode leading up to it (cos weddings are usually a laugh in a soap) when the subject of giving her away came up. Gail did it, I think, and there was a scene where Audrey said to her 'Well it is your job' and I remember thinking no it's not, it's her Dad's job to give her away, not her mother's! But of course, Martin didn't exist by then - and he only lived up the road in Liverpool as well!

That line about 'the Platts need a serious period of no death's did make me laugh!

And they said Rita was a deadly wife - Len and Ted both died on her, so to speak, but Gail will surpass her by about a dozen at this rate! When I watched Brian had died and she had married and divorced Martin, and that was it. How many husbands has she had since then? Are they all dead?Tricky Dicky of course, even I know about, but I don't how many she's had after that. What is she at the moment? Married? Divorced? Widowed again?

Sarah never goes to see Martin ever I don't think she and Bethany has seen him since Martin left in 2005 which is a shame.

Was Martin and Nick close I can't remember (I know Martin adopted him along with Sarah).

David, Max and Lily went to see him recently.

Martin was planning to return and visit his family just recently. But then he found out yet another one of Gail's husbands had died, so thought against the idea.

That article is dated January 2013 - 4 years ago.

I expect he's got over any anger he had by now, especially as he has a very successful business.

He was never a favourite of mine - but I liked him.....I remember him arriving in 1985 and working in the cafe....and he gradually got more storylines - originally as Jenny's boyfriend, now Jenny is back - it would be a good time for him to return. His mates are there Kevin and Sally (another ex) and most importantly - his entire family.
I'd hope the street would be interested in tempting him back - even for a 3 month stint.

He should have been the street's tough guy.

I mean, look how tough he is here, against a man in handcuffs who's being held by two coppers.
