You never know, they might do. I think she's probably done enough high profile roles since not to worry too much about being typeecast by a brief return.
However, I do think there are credible reasons for her not to be there giving her leaving storyline. Jasmine could well find coming back to the village whete she killed somebody, plus seeing everybody connected to it, including Debbie, too painful. And if they really love her, her family would j nderstand that and know it doesn't lessen her feelings for Ashley and that she'll be mourning him in her own way.
Likewise Luke. In my experience, whilst people do make an effort to attend funerals, the bereaved family are realistic and accept that some people just won't be able to make it due to other commitments like work, kids schooling and childcare if they leave them at home, expense, especially of they live a long way away.
We have relatives in America and Australia who we do keep in close contact with via post and telephone but it's accepted that we won't be attending family events like weddings and funerals. Always has been. Doesn't mean we don't care.
