The picture is very grainy. I guess that's deliberate.

Early doors (but there are only two parts/hours) and yet it's clear this isn't of the same compulsive, dread-soaked calibre as And Then There Were None. Pity.

I'm not getting grainy, there is a softness from the lighting and around the edges of people, kind of hazy. Like they are walking in fog, or in a Kate Bush video.

Murky is the word. It seems we can have a clear picture and mumbling dialogue or clear dialogue and a murky picture!!

Toby Jones whispering in the pub was ridiculous. I swear they are being told to do it deliberately now.

The total isolation was it's own character in that, I guess it's difficult to replicate that kind of dread in a city. Plus the droning music was really imposing, there is almost no music in this, which is quite nice now that I think about it.

I think this has it's own atmosphere though, it's intriguing at the moment. And I will watch Toby Jones in anything.

Me, neither. Love the atmospheric background but am finding it rather ponderous.( and before anyone squeaks, I normally like drama with a slow build-up)

Dull stuff, coasting on the enormous goodwill generated by ATTWN. Wise to keep it to two parts but I can't see me even bothering with the second hour.

Really? She doesn't seem to go hungry for praise.

She has a good face for period drama. Like a young Clara Bow.

Imagine: Serial Killers - The Women Who Write Crime Fiction

Alan Yentob explores the enthralling world of female crime fiction in the company of some of its best-selling authors, including Patricia Cornwell, Val McDermid and Paula Hawkins - the newcomer whose The Girl on the Train was the breakout hit of 2015.

Thought I'd throw this link in for those who might have missed it, as it's Agatha Christie, 6 days left on the Iplayer.

I'll avoid reading the thread, won't add anything to the program for me, I'm just a casual viewer.
More interesting that than last year's offering, as this is going to be more 'straight up'

Im very much looking forward to this too. If it's anywhere near as good as "And Then There Were None" which was shown last year, then we should be in for a treat.
Hope so.

Ahh thank you! I thought the same but couldn't recall the name.
