I thought it was well-acted and very atmospheric with great sets and costumes.
I wonder what will happen tomorrow - not knowing the outcome, I wonder if it will be a similarly paced episode or if they will ramp it up for part 2? |

Pea Soup. There's just too much of that green fog.
![]() It's intriguing - I'm glad the second part is tomorrow instead of next week. |

Murky is the word. It seems we can have a clear picture and mumbling dialogue or clear dialogue and a murky picture!!

Is the coughing really a necessary part of the plot or could it have been done away with as it's very annoying? Perhaps he's choking on the weird green BBC smog?
As I've never read the book, I'm not sure which version is more accurate |

The overriding impression I took away from that hour was coughing and green gloom. Full marks if that's what they intended to be most prominent.

I don't know the outcome either, unless it's very straight forward, it seems like they need to cover a lot. If he didn't do it they need to find another suspect. Who I assume we have already seen tonight, but no idea who it could be.
The plot is great, but very slow burning (good material for budding lawyers though). |

I can't remember Charles Laughton coughing that much in the film. ( he was ill with something, though) He was also a Sir and wore a wig in court.

I don't know what the conclusion is but I feel like the wife is the obvious suspect, perhaps in cahoots with the maid.
![]() I don't blooming know, but I like them to at least have paid the leccy bill with some of our TV licence money

It's a tricky twist to get totally right, it will all depend on a certain performance.

I was looking forward to a right good who -done- it, but the green gloop , mumbling and endless coughing blooming spoiled it. Right , we've got the point, he's got TB and there were terrible pea-souper fogs .....Is that the bliddy plot?
![]() Quality acting in depth, and a terrific performance from Toby Jones. I enjoyed the first episode, and look forward to tomorrow night's concluding episode. |

Not overly keen on the production, too much fog and green stuff around and yes, the coughing is getting irritating.
It's an interesting story ( I have read it )
Spoiler
I have put part of my comment in spoiler, just in case ! |

He had a heart problem in the film, and his real life wife Elsa Lancaster played his over attentive nurse. It was filmed in black and white and there wasn't a a dull moment, unlike that crap that we watched this evening.
![]() For ages I thought the film was directed by Hitchcock but in fact it was a Billy Wilder film. |

There was an actor in that who to me looked quite like James Stewart, but I didn't get the character name to get the actor name. He was one of the legal people. Anyone know who I mean? Thanks.

Spoiler
I have put part of my comment in spoiler, just in case ! Even though I know what happens, I can't wait to see it. I agree they've gone overboard with the greeniness, though. At one point I wondered if the colour on my telly had gone on the blink. I know things were grim in many ways then, but producers of this sort of programme seem to think that all colour was absent from the world in those days. |
