I'm just wondering whether Hearst have handed over DS to a bunch of Year 10s. I've just had a look at it and it looks like some really amateur blog, full of non-stories and a load of animated GIFs (so 90s).

First, it's far too busy due to layout and GIFs, and when you combine that with infinite scrolling (never a good idea, especially with tablets/mobiles) the whole thing just merges into one. The articles also stretch the term "journalism", even when used extremely loosely (seriously, do we really need an article on how to watch VR porn?). Now we've even got Stormtroopers from Star Wars at the top. I guess someone thought would be clever seeing as Xmas brings to mind snow, and the fact that a new SW film has been released, but it just looks like they're running a site for pre-teens.

Does anyone have the slightest clue what Hearst are playing at? If I was a client interested in conducting business with them and saw this shambles I'd just walk away. They seriously need to get their act together.
