Sky Q problems on Watchdog tonight.
Apparently, Sky Q is beset with technical problems and they are difficult to contact when things go wrong.
I'm currently keeping my VM service under review following unprecedented problems over 2016, so am interested if Sky customers have experienced the claims made in this programme. It's the first item in the show at 3 minutes in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0876d69 |

Q customer here. Had it since the day they started non Sky broadband installs. Not had any of the issues they mentioned.
There's no doubt Sky's engineers are over stretched at the moment - that seems to be the reason for most complaints. Bit of a tough one for Sky - do they up the price to reduce demand? Interesting to see that complaints about Sky TV to Ofcom are still at the same low level, despite Q having been available for 9 months now. You'd think if there was a problem on the scale some are suggesting, then surely there'd be a surge in complaints. |

Mine's due to be installed on Saturday, but I've already received the Q Hub. If the performance of that is any indication I'm not looking forward to it. The wifi range is half what it was with the SR102. No wonder they are having problems if everything is supposed to mesh via wifi.

As long as one of the minis or the main box (doesn't matter which) can get a half decent signal from the hub, you should be okay. The minis & main form the mesh between themselves and so don't all need to be able to communicate with the hub.

Had it for a good few months and have not encountered any major problems, a couple of reboots but we had that with previous boxes. I caught Watchdog this morning on iPlayer, got to be honest I didn't take much from it.

Made me laugh aty the end of the program they had a section about wifi and what impacts it after slagging off a system that uses wifi. |

Mine is becoming a pain lately, have to power off and on nearly every day now, hard drive going for the land speed record every morning when i come downstairs, locking up.
Apart from that its working up to 100% Sky standard operating procedure. |

Have had to do a lot of reboots. And it is almost impossible to contact Sky.
No email option. Webchat never ever available. Phone just keeps you on hold before hanging up on you. |

Weve had Sky Q for about six months and we had a few problems at the very beginning of having it but since then it's been fine, we love it. Weve just bought a 4K television with Ultra HD. We love our Sky Q.
Weve got a mini upstairs in one of the bedrooms and that works perfectly. |

And what would Ofcom do? they come over has a spineless organization, most people would rather cancel than complain to Ofcom
Now Ofcom has started an investigation into line rental citing would you belive the increasing margin between wholesale and retail which disadvantages many older people who do not use broadband or those who use mobile services. These are the same reasons I gave 3 years ago. Better late than never? well it's an abdication of responsibility to regulate the communications sector but then Ofgem fail to regulate the energy sector so no surprises there. |

Whether you consider Ofcom spineless or not, I'd suggest a customer with an unfixed problem is equally likely to complain to Ofcom, no matter which provider they use. So the level of complaints they receive is a useful indicator of the differences between providers

I notice that Winston has not commented so far with his usual statement which is true so I will save him the trouble. Message to BBC presenters and researchers working on the Watchdog programme and everyone else for that matter. Sky do not employ engineers, they employ installers with only a basic level of training. Finally I would suggest to Sky customers if they are experiencing problems with Sky Q then why not request to revert back to Sky+HD with a multiroom box which seems to be a far more satisfactory and reliable arrangement.

This should help to resolve the question about Sky Engineers.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/re...er-appointment When one looks at job titles, I wonder how many here have the title of "manager" or "assistant manager" but are neither capable or have the ability to efficiently manage anyone or any job that they are supposed to be managing, yet bitterly complain about these people employed by Sky being called engineers. |

I have had Q since day 1, and I have had problems with lack of connection with loss of communication between mini and main box, this has got better recently, do get the odd 'freeze' now and then, main issue is no red button, no favourites, and deafulting to "Top Picks" and not the tv guide.

Why won't Sky simply allow SkyQ to use Powerline adaptors?

Q works fine with external powerline. The internal version is still being developed, but works for many users.

Winston: you're absolutely correct about engineer status but I do wish that you'd shut up about Homeplugs. They do not cause interference to everybody. They might, just might, cause interference to radio amateurs (though I am one and they don't bother me) but the proper Homeplugs do have filters on those bands. Otherwise Joe Public doesn't listen to short wave radio any more.

Bad news Winston_1 . The last update to Q enabled powerline on all 1TB & 2TB boxes. So they're obviously not worried about Ofcom.
