Bad news Winston_1 . The last update to Q enabled powerline on all 1TB & 2TB boxes. So they're obviously not worried about Ofcom.
Really? That's great news. How do I activate and will it work on the mini-boxes?

No reason to be worried about OFCOM anyway, as the technology is perfectly legal to use in the UK so nothing for OFCOM to get involved with.

It does nothing other than show that Sky give their technicians over glorified job titles!
It's not a recent thing though. It seems anyone that goes into someone's house and installs or fixes something in this country is called an engineer too. No one knows why, I think it started with the GPO years ago, but those guys did and still do (as BT/Openreach) fix often complex faults in the underground network so it's somewhat more valid. Calling a Sky installer an engineer is daft, but it's not going to stop now!

On my Q and mini boxes the last update switched on the powerline option by default. Whether it works, I couldn't tell because I've never had any issues with wifi connectivity between the boxes.

To check, scroll down to settings then key in 0-0-1-Select, scroll to Network and you can set it to ON if it's not already

Q works fine with external powerline. The internal version is still being developed, but works for many users.
too many types of powerline to back that generalistic comment up.
Q mini boxes need about 550MBps from the Main Q box so a 200MBps powerline adaptor will manifest issues.

Like they get that from WiFi?

I'm not a big fan of powerline adaptors, but when they work they pretty well always out perform WiFi in the same circumstances.

How do they manage that via a 100Mbit/s network port?

Sorry major typo. Meant to ssy 50MBps. Just because a powerline adaptoir says fast or giga bit on it doesnt mean itll transmit at that rate. In my experience conecting a mini to a main Q box causes major streaming issues. On numerous occasions too.
