Chesney's got to be the dreariest though. How does poor Sinead stand him?

Anna for sure, so miserable and such a life destroyer anyone who has any kind of relationship with her she just destroys their life with her miserable and self-pitying character.

Not poor Izzy. She has been beat down by that fishwife, I won't even say her name. Her goal in life seems to be to bring as much misery into everyone's life as possible. Her callousness towards Izzy was unforgivable in her time of need. Her ugly legs are a reflection of her nature. Izzy should tell fishwife never to come near or speak to her again so she can get back to her old self and avoid leaving herself open to the same abuse as Faye.

Windass is probably the singularly biggest life draining, brain numbing, tedium delivering ghoul on the show now, which is actually saying something. What I'm finding so hilarious is the amount of effort the writers put in to try to elevate Anna into a character you would give a tinker's damn about. The tried making her a downtrodden martyr to her own family and now they've had to almost have her being beaten up on screen with her scorched legs, and now her terrible fall lol. Why don't they just have an enormous hammer poised over her head while she sits on the sofa which can intermittently clobber her over the head and get on with it? They might as well go beserk trying to demonstrate how no one has more misfortunes as poor old Anna, they will NEVER make her into a likeable, nevermind lovable character. What possesses the writers to invest so much effort in old fishwive Windass anyhow? It's like the will not be proved wrong and that she could really become some kind of iconic character someday lol. Yep an icon of all that is soooo bad about this show.

Every terrible thing that happens to Anna is like the writers screaming to the viewers at home, You will care for Anna, You will feel sorry for her, You will be made to care about her, and if you don't......
Then we're going to call you a fat woman hating, misogenist, victim bashing, miseraphobe lol. Or something clever like that. Oops that's putting ideas in some heads now lol |

Maria is not dreary, she's very passionate in a understated sense. It's all or nothing with Maria. Why do you think the men all go mad over her? Give the girl a chance.
they don't seem to know what to do with her which is probably why all she seems to do is shag her way round the street cos they can't think up any other stories for her she's just dull |

95% of Corrie's cast are dreary and unlikeable these days.
Someone put it so nicely in one of the Hilda Ogden threads (can't remember who wrote it and exactly what you wrote but this is the gist - sorry!): "In the past there were characters you could root for and get behind, today everyone is awful" |

Lol exactly! I felt from the beginning that the burns storyline is wasted on Anna because you just can't feel sorry for her! I think they tried to boost the character by putting her with Kevin who's been in the show forever ,but to me that's not worked either because there's no chemistry between them and he's just as dreary as her
!!Anna is a complete non-entity for me, a 'nothing' character. |

I like her, she's so much tougher than she looks. She's one of my fav characters atm. She is more like a real girl to me in how she comes across than most of the others. And to give credit to the actress she always seems to believe in the character's struggles herself. A lot of the other actors are laughing at themselves.

!!She's a morose and miserable misery guts and even her forced 'jolity' at times always appears forced an unnatural. Still I suppose on the bright side all the misery she'll be suffering soon will give her a lot of satisfaction indeed lol. |

Agree with you about Maria. She's definitely one of the few 'real' characters on the street, though the recent Caz story has damaged that a bit for me. I rate Maria and Samia's portrayal far higher than most of the other cast members.

No matter what bloke Anna's been with she's always moping about and trying to make him miserable and apologetic about her (almost always ) self inflicted suffering.

Have you noticed Roy doesn't get any rashes since fishwife got the Joan of Arc treatment and hasn't been in work since. Maybe it just me that notices these subtle differences.

Just like being in her presence is also what has put the fear of God into Roy about women in general. He probably thought Cathy was too friendly with the bag and was in danger of following her lead lol. |
