No matter what bloke Anna's been with she's always moping about and trying to make him miserable and apologetic about her (almost always ) self inflicted suffering.

She's a morose and miserable misery guts and even her forced 'jolity' at times always appears forced an unnatural.

Still I suppose on the bright side all the misery she'll be suffering soon will give her a lot of satisfaction indeed lol.
Lol yes that's so true about the forced jollity!

And yes she brings down every fella she's been with. She treated Owen like crap most of the time

Ken Barlow. Alex and Cathy.
Ken dreary? He's spellbinding when he talks. If it wasn't for him the residents of the street would be morons.

I think Anna washes her hair in the cafe
The patrons that drank the soup will testify to that. Most of them were coughing up hairballs on a regular basis.

Wish Corrie would do a Spooks style death for Anna in the cafe with Roy's deep fat fryer.

I like her, she's so much tougher than she looks. She's one of my fav characters atm. She is more like a real girl to me in how she comes across than most of the others. And to give credit to the actress she always seems to believe in the character's struggles herself. A lot of the other actors are laughing at themselves.
yeah don't get me wrong, i don't mind her normally, its just lately she's getting so overused that I'm getting sick of her

Marias better as a supporting character IMO. she's better in the background. her big storylines are always boring. idgaf whether she gets with Shayne Ward or not, they're both as boring as each other but it's Eva i feel sorry for, she's so sweet and deserves wayyy better

I hope that getting so overused remark is not referring to her love life.

it would be easier to say who isn't dreary.
Maria is so dreary it's unbelievable, no matter what happens to her she delivers her lines in the same boring manner. Kylie did an impression of her in the salon and it was spot on, boring and emotionless.
Anna is hideous. She froths at the mouth when she's screaming in people's faces, it's very off putting.
Kevin and her have no chemistry, I forget sometimes they're lovers because they come across as siblings.
Still can't stand Faye. They've tried making us like her with the bullying story line, the pregnancy etc and none of it's worked,
Chesney always looks constipated, no spark at all to him.
Fizz annoys me with her horrible voice, especially the baby voice she puts on
I only like Izzy when she cries and that's only because it makes me laugh
Shayne Ward's character is charmless and cold. Perfect for Maria therefore.
Adam Barlow is charmless and cold. Perfect for Maria therefore.
Steph could have been a good character but all she does is shriek at everyone.
Gail is creepy with her blinking and the way she gets right in peoples faces when she's talking to them, obviously never heard of personal space.
There's so few characters with any kind of life about them, that makes them interesting and entertaining.
Daniel might shape up to be interesting, at least he hasn't jumped into bed with Maria so far.

Not nearly as dull as Eva. Leanne's heading down the dreary path as well. Nick - get out while you can!

Maria. Every single scene is her moaning, whining or bedding another man. Poor Liam must have no idea whether he's coming or going!

Anna for sure, so miserable and such a life destroyer anyone who has any kind of relationship with her she just destroys their life with her miserable and self-pitying character.
Hear hear. She's just miserable, hardly has a good word for anyone. Another character who is dreary to me is Sinead, she's just as miserable with a permanent sulky expression. I'd prefer to see Chesney with someone bright and lively like Gemma.

Fiz should surely be at the top of the Dreary' list? Followed very closely by Sinead and Chesney!

Most of them are pretty dreary when you think about it, Sean, Billy, Chesney, Sinead, Fizz, Jenny, Andy, Steph, Luke...

Kevin and Jenny were a much better pairing and both drew on their shared history from the show. Shame that they were ruined by the Jack kidnap plot.

Anna is a complete non-entity for me, a 'nothing' character.
I'd prefer Kevin and Jenny - I don't buy into Kevin and Anna at all....Gary could stay cos of Sarah and Faye move in with Sally & Tim. Anna should hobble off with Izzy towards Jackson's Chippy and keep going

Anna is beyond dreary and she should emigrate with her equally dreary daughter, Faye.
Maria is dreary; is there a man in the street she hasn't had sex with, apart from Todd, Billy and Sean ?
Sinead and Chesney are dreary..
The rest of the cast are all watchable.

Maria is not dreary, she's very passionate in a understated sense. It's all or nothing with Maria. Why do you think the men all go mad over her? Give the girl a chance.
Please enlighten me, because I am baffled. She is pretty enough but I have never seen anything remotely interesting about her. She has no depth to her, so how Aiden could prefer her to Eva mystifies me, her awful laugh apart, Eva has sexiness by the bucket load.

So Maria goes to the top of my dreary list followed by
Kirk - always speaks like he is reading his script
Sean - why is he still there?
Fiz - AWFUL voice
Nessa - awful character - no redeeming qualities
Kathy - yaawwnnn, please get rid of her, her partnership with Roy was doomed from the start
Anna - for all reasons already mentioned
Billy has not fulfilled original promise
Sinead - not given enough to do
All the Nazeer clan can go
Phelan does not come under the description of 'dreary', but I really dislike the character and wish his contract had not been re newed.
Whilst I can understand Ches being nominated, I rather like him, we need some 'nice' characters in the the street. I also like Andy, Luke & sister.

I'm happy with all the 'old' characters.

Agree with you about Maria. She's definitely one of the few 'real' characters on the street, though the recent Caz story has damaged that a bit for me. I rate Maria and Samia's portrayal far higher than most of the other cast members.
This, this and this!!!!!

Maria is not a 'high octane' character like shall we say Becky or even to a degree Carla but I have far more empathy with her tears, traumas, dilemmas & emotions as portrayed in a real & understated way by Samia than ever I had with either of the characters I mentioned played in a more 'dramatic' style by those two actresses, both of whom were given far more credit than Samia!!

As for your comments on the Kaz s/l KK, I know where you're coming from but I still feel that all Maria's scenes were handled impeccably by Samia despite the daft nature of most of what was going on around her, and as for the run up to Christmas I thought she was truly great in every scene, not comfortable viewing maybe, but exactly portraying the turmoil, anguish & self hatred that her character would be feeling in that position!!

Actiing awards? Never!! But far more important to me is I went on every minute of that 'journey' with her and spent Christmas eve night thinking about it, where much of Corrie, especially these days you tend to forget as soon as you've watched it!!

If that makes me (or Maria) 'dreary' then so be it!!

Who is the dreariest of them all? Maria.

Mary, Sally, Tracy, and Gemma are the only females who seem to have a bit of life left in them.
