Misar, why don't you contact Which? yourself and see if they can put your mind at rest, or not. You could collaborate with AlanO and any other DS audiovisual trade experts who doubt Which? and then you'll have all your questions answered at the same time.

I keep on saying to contact Which? but you all seem reluctant to do it. I think you prefer to attack and bully soft targets like subscribers.
Alternatively, perhaps the "Consumers Association" could actually get on the internet and do some research and come on these boards to publish rebuttals or at least engage with those of us who are sceptical about their reviews? It's a two way street you know.

Frankly you're only a "soft target" if you consider yourself to be one. What you're doing is re-publishing Which's reviews verbatim - that's fine, but by your own admission you haven't any knowledge of the Consumer Electrics trade and are complaining when those of us who do have some knowledge don't align with the views which you are promoting.

My mind is at rest because as I mentioned earlier in this thread I stopped subscribing to Which a very long time ago and do not use their reviews.

When current Which subscribers post potentially misleading advice based on Which reviews it is quite important to advise readers of this forum of the limitations. Clearly a number of other posters on here have similar views to mine.

I do not see such comments as bullying. Everyone on here is free to make up their own minds regardless of whether they subscribe to Which or not.

Hi AlanO & misar,

I've just had a long conversation with Which member services and quoted some of your posts to the guy from Which, also what Nigel said too, which seemed to amuse him.

I asked if it would be possible for you respond on the thread as I'm ill equipped to counter your assertions, not being an expert like you three claim to be. The response was that it isn't currently their policy to come on forums and deal with every single complaint made against Which.

I was asked how Which could do this anyway and my response was to say that TalkTalk created an account on DS and engaged with its customers, and that it was refreshing to see a company do this. Couldn't Which do this also?

I said that it would perhaps promote Which to a younger generation and show that it was willing to engage with them in their preferred media, rather than seeing Which as this fuddy duddy organisation for old people, and he said that Which is already on Facebook and Twitter, and has smartphone apps, and advertises its services on a wide number of platforms.

He said he would pass on my feedback but it's very unlikely that Which will come on here and respond, as they don't feel the need to justify what they say (that I quoted from in my earlier posts) on account of their reputation.

Frankly I believe Which because I don't see why you won't contact them yourselves if you're so positive you're right. I would. I've given you every opportunity to do this too, and there's no more I can do. I'm disappointed in you and expected more.

If you can prove them wrong you can come on here and gloat to your heart's content and I'll be happy because it means in future their reviews will be better, but if you lose you'll have to eat humble pie, and I don't think you like the taste of humble pie.

I lost faith in Which a few years ago (7-8 at a guess) when reviews of a 2 TVs from a well known brand came out. Can't remember exactly what the difference between them was but think it was either just screen size, or one had freesat & the other didn't. Aside from this difference the 2 models were identical. The screen used in both was the same design, build & quality (regardless of size), the picture processing was the same, the connections were the same etc..etc. The only visible difference was one has a slightly different colour trim to distinguish it on the shelf. the reviews that each of these sets got were chalk & cheese, it was laughable.
There was also an issue where as a retailer we would be well aware of the return rate/reliability of a particular brand compared with another yet it continued to get high marks compared with other items the we had far less problems with.
For consumer rights, helping people with all the jargon & advising what to look for I think Which? do a very good job, just not as convinced on the overall validity of all of the reviews.
